Today’s collecting scene is too fun and fancy free so I thought I’d put my remaining collection goals into Collectr to see how much further I have to go…
Anyone else feel like knocking yourself down a few pegs?
This is just for fun, it’s understood there are compromises available to meet goals such as condition, language, etc 
I, personally, don’t have a value goal at all these days… I am on a quantity hunt right now. 1k Fossil Psyducks, which just allows me to enjoy things from afar while I get more ducks. I also engage in some random urge spending

I was going though my Himeno artist binder and filling in a few holes. A few went from $20 → $200 purchases even for a binder copy
While it can be disheartening to watch the price of something we desire run away during a boom, philosophically I’d much rather have $100,000 of collection goals than $0. For me there’s a strong correlation between the time spent searching or saving for something and the feeling of satisfaction and appreciation when we finally achieve it. Ultimately I think collecting is more about the journey than the destination, and it’s always healthy to take a step back and appreciate all the cool things we already have.

Tell me about it. I remember this portfolio passing over 40k and thinking ‘wow the market is kinda taking off isnt it’
Maybe it’s a good thing there isn’t any app that is useful for tracking the value of the cards I still want.. Even if I only try to add all English and Japanese cards with Collectr, I either can’t find the Japanese cards, and if I can find them, there is no pricing data available and it shows it as 0 USD..
Anyway, since I’ve got all missing Seviper cards incoming, and all except for two recently released Pikachu cards incoming (so excluding the illusive eight I’ve been missing for years), I’ve decided to add all FA Supporter/CHR cards I’m currently still missing and plan on buying before the end of this year to the Collectr website, and got this:
Not even that bad tbch. This actually made me hopeful that I’ll be able to be back on track for all my Pokémon sub-collections before the end of the year, including the upcoming 50 Pikachu cards of the 30th Celebrations set, and the two Pikachu (both ~250 USD each) I still have to buy.
I guess I’ll postpone my Yu-Gi-Oh rarity collection to the start of next year, which would also be roughly 2k in value I’d imagine, mostly due to one 1k rarity.. 
Of course, if I add the values of the illusive eight Pikachu cards I’m still missing, the value is really depressing, since it’s closing in on 3M-4M USD, haha. 
Safe-to-say, I’ve given up on five out of eight of those, ngl. (Only one SNAP Pikachu has emerged thus far, which I’m valuing at about 2M - not that the owner would be willing to let it go for that price though - and the four Japanese Art Academy Pikachu I’m missing are selling pretty semi-frequently for 400k-500k in PSA-10s lately (mostly on the Japanese and Chinese markets), so I’d value those at about 250k-300k each raw rn. The value of the German and both Spanish Pikachu promos I’m missing is about 3k each, although the problem is mostly about finding them in the first place instead of their price..)

of the 45 I could add, the top 5 make up nearly 80,000 of it ,-,

I understand why you´d think that, but reaching a destination, if you´re the ´satisfied instead of more, more´ type of person is actually a very good feeling too. I just stare at some awesome cards I wanted, and now have.
That’s a little too positive for this hobby
I haven’t done the calculations, but my rough guesstimate is that it would cost north of a million dollars to complete all of my collection goals and rebuild what I’ve sold off. I could wallow at the sheer absurdity of this goal, or I could get to restructuring it into something manageable. If you’re a normal person, your biggest asset is not money in collectible hobbies, it’s time (and thus opportunity).

I am doing that now with my Komiya Binder. Thank god I followed others advice with buying the most expensive cards first. Reverse holos would have killed me… I thought $10 mid-era reverse holos were expensive back then…
