Really nice to make your acquaintance as well @Cardsacrosscultures. Your collection goals sound fascinating. Have you started acquiring some cards or do you have some cards in mind that you would like to collect? The Japanese promos space has a lot of non prize cards which have absolute rarity as well. Very interested to see your collection thread soon.

@xileets So I forget what video I watched but the explained what a āMaster Setā in the community means which is all tcg pokemon cards you can collect in the set with the MEW mark. This includes all secret rares, reverse holos, anything found in booster packs, some black star promos if desired. A āGrand Master Setā is everything; unnumbered promos, stamps, holos varients, metal card and box toppers.
151 PROMO variations:
UPC, Poster Collection, ETB, PC Stamp, Best Buy, Gamestop/EB Games, Pokemon Together Stamp, Zapdos collection (Electabuzz), Alakhzam collection, Charizard premium and the newest Costco tin box.
It was a lot, ha.

@tcgmaine Favorite Scyther artwork for tcg? Itās really hard to beat the Quick Start Gift Set art, great pose and a beautiful card. I also enjoy the Undaunted art and actually the latest action shot in Temporal Forces. My least fav is probably the most expensive ungraded, the Rocket Returns Scyther ex. Not a fan of the old 3D CGI oriented art.

Hello all!
Iāve been lurking around here likeā¦ almost a year now? Primarily while I should be doing more productive things in the morning. Iāve considered making an account a few times, but finally felt the need to today. For now Iāll just introduce myself before I go on any rants or ask too much(its unfortunate what I dealt with today is what pushed me to make an account but Iām happy to finally be able to reply.)
Just gotta mention the wealth of knowledge here has been super helpful and is like, one of the best resources on Pokemon cards I never knew about for ages. Crazy to me that some of, if not the biggest collectors are here - you usually donāt have access to people at the top in other hobbies. Thanks for all the good reads and info. Hopefully I can contribute something at some point.
As for the stuff asked about - I got into Pokemon so obsessively as a kid my parents took it away from me. Games, cards, all of it. Heh. Always had a love for it.
Iāll share a particularly sour moment from my TCG past. I wanted nothing more than that holo Charizard back in the day. Eventually my brother ended up pulling one, and selling it shortly after(tbf, $30 to an ~11 yo back then was like a fortune, and he doesnāt need the money now)
But I really wish my folks had just given him the cash and let me, well, uh, trash it over years, probably. I just wanted one so bad. However the real sour part is when I opened some for a friend who was kinda into Pokemon; his mom had just given him some packs cuz it was popular. Ofcā¦ of the couple I open for himā¦ pulled that holo Charizard. I - offhandedly with a bit of bitterness - said āwell, you got a Charizardā. So stiff was my tone apparently that he didnāt think I was being serious. I showed him, and it was maddeningly difficult to hide my envy, and as a 9 year old or whatever I probably did a terrible job.
With all that said I still donāt have a base set holo Charizard, but maybe one day. My folks donāt know where they stashed my other cards. But its fine, Iām sure theyāre in poor condition, and I donāt think I had anything that special.
Now I just really love cards with great art - even commons and uncommons these days have some super cool art. Iāve been starting to sell some doubles on ebay and stuff lately to fund card purchases I otherwise wouldnāt be able to justify. Hopefully get my first PSA sub(sentā¦ early Octā¦ projected done JAN =_= skeptical of gamestop submission tho) back with some decent results to do the same.
As for video games - i wont shill my stuff - but about a year ago I made a video where I randomly hatched a team of pokemon using glitzer popping in the emerald randomizer. Then I took them to the battle palace, where they use moves randomly. Fun vid imo, not worth for like 100 views lol. Did feel like a champ getting silver medal for 21 wins. Spenserās Slaking had Intimidate instead of loafing around every other turn. Absolutely brutal, but fun stuff. Actually learned a ton about how gen III works.

Very warm welcome to the forums @Whis_Cash and a really great stories. I am sure like me, many others also like reading a lot of info on the forums, so you are doing well on the writing part.
As for your collection, would love to see your PSA return in a thread when they come. Interested to see your pickups and favourite artworks. What are your current collection goals?
You can also link all your socials to your profile. Just mentioning since you state a video you made, which people here would love to check it out. I think there are a few folks in the Hoenn Hoes thread that keep experimenting with the games which might also interest you.

Will def share my results. Waited a couple years before sending a sub. Though Iām not gonna part with all of them, finding my basketball collection from 95-97 def pushed me over the edge to grade stuff. Those will help fund my pokemon goals so:
Seem to have caught the slab bug. Roped in by a random fusion strike pack bought on a lark, once I saw that mew v it was over. Had to ditch my completionist mindset in favor of just getting 9s/10s of ones I love once I realized what completing a set meant. Still have most cards from a set until you reach the $10 price point.
The fact that my basketball cards will be lucky to get 6-7s probably plays a factor. I was 6 so cut me some slack haha. I still am skeptical of my ability to keep em safe otherwise tho, heh. I do have a few sweet binder collections of my normal and reverse holos. Hereās one I stickered:
Iām in a weird place where I love the normal, classy cards and these new super blingy ones. Might be committing a big sin in my 2nd post here - but I kinda dig the gold cards and a few rainbow cards(rayq gx is well executed imo). Also, I recieved valuable collectibles from family that said go ahead and sell it when they got old. I ofc kept some as mementos but there was some serious value there. I hope to have kids someday, and its another rainy day fund for themā¦ maybe. Donāt worry, I still invest normally, im not here stonking on cards, heh.
sighā¦ I canāt escape it. Wasnāt gonna bring it up and wont go on but just went from 3 fake returns on ebay to 4 while typing this. Gonna need to find the place to get advice there. I have video evidence of me putting it in the envelope and into the maibox. Whatever. Anyways appreciate the welcome again, not gonna let that kill my good mood. Hope you all have a great night.

Yeah basically I wanted to start collecting cause I wanted to buy my best friend some booster boxes. We have a strong history of openings together through different games, especially magic, but he started to collect Pokemon couple years ago. I live in Thailand and come back in France every once in a while, so I bought some boxes, but it wasnt there on time and they arrived while I was in Thailand ^^ so after a year, Iāve never opened it and decided to keep is sealed. So I started to check a lot of stuff about opening, sealed products etcā¦ and here Im, with only couple boxes waiting for me in France. And I got addict & passioned again so now Iām looking to poursue in that direction Basically I got 2 boxes of paldea evolved, and thatās allā¦

iām going back in France for Christmas, and with all that, I really want to buy some products to keep, but also looking for nice things to open with my best friend I was thinking about Surging sparks box cause I love some of the designs, and it could be a great way to start opening & collecting things. But honeslty, I donāt know how to start. Not even what I really want with collecting. But I love Pokemon, love oppening, and thatās a begining haha.
