On the note of centering, Left/Right OC is much less appealing than Top/Bottom OC
Perhaps I’m in the minority, but I’m generally more accepting of Left/Right OC than Top/Bottom OC (though it depends on the art, as I think there are cards that look more balanced one way vs. the other).
I’m with you on this.
For the most part, maybe 95-98% of the time, psa is very consistent, and grades fairly accurately overall. I really trust their appraisal.
And love their work.
However they are only human, and do make mistakes. Any problems you have with a card can usually be resubmitted and fixed. But it’s a rare occurrence.
These have been checked by 2-3 graders remember.
I think people all see eye to eye on condition differently from one another. And you can’t please everyone.
Sometimes minor production flaws can still enable a psa 10 card, so long as the surfaces are very clean.
I believe a 10 can have minor production flaws, the same as per psa’s website it even says so in it’s grading scale. As long as it doesn’t affect the overall appeal, and the card is not extremely detrimented by the flaw. So maybe something like 1 mm of corner wear from cutting is ok.
I think they do a good job generally, but I have had some shockers which I had to stipulate we’re weak tens, as they were fairly valuable.
If the cards value is going over 2k or something rediculous because of an obvious flaw, maybe good to give mention of weak or strong.
As there is really pedantic collectors out their who will do a return because they weren’t happy with the quality of the psa 10. It’s happened to me only once before. So I think most people understand a 10 is a 10, Its gone through alot of qualifiers to get to where it is, and we should respect the grade it’s given or passed.
I’ve had a few customers message me to describe the quality of the psa 10… and check for damages recently, it’s quite frustrating actually… But I still give extra photos or information when i can.
But people need to realise a psa 10 isn’t always a Beckett 10, buy Beckett if your pedantic and OCD. Buy psa if you just love your cards / not ocd, and can trust the most popular grading service on the market.

I pretty much agree. I’d only add, that if the card doesn’t deserve the grade it was given, the buyer can send it in to PSA and get reimbursed for the value difference.
Whenever I receive cards back from PSA that look like they do not deserve a 10, I will store it in my box of extra cards, and just go buy the same card on eBay with a stronger grade.
The thing about me is that once a card is in my collection it stays there, because I am not a person who enjoys letting go of what I worked so hard to acquire. Even if the card is a weak graded ten, I feel it still deserves a place in my collection. Especially high grade first edition WOTC holos!
