Value / Premium of Signed Gold Star

Howdy howdy, I like to update a tracker of all the graded cards I have every other month (with one of the columns being their value). I was speaking with a buddy of mine about how I don’t have a clear picture of what signed cards go for, and assign a blanket 40% premium above their unsigned version for my Masakazu Fukuda signed cards (Ray and Charizard PSA 9 as well as the Regis and Treecko).

What are your thoughts on if that figure seems in the right ballpark or what number you would use? (Not interested in selling, so this is more of a hypothetical)

Depends on the buyer. For cards after a certain price point. Signatures can reduce the value of the card

I am open to the idea of buying a signed slab if it is 40% under market. I would then proceed to erase the signature on it.

You are going to pour acetone on a card?

I think there’s an art and science to looking at what the card sells for, if the card or slab is signed, and what the auto sells for on other cards.

Fukuda autographs sell relatively often, so any estimate you land on can at least be relatively data supported.

Depends on the condition of the card, the style of the autograph, the sketch (if there is one), overall eye appeal.

I can’t imagine having marker on a card.

Bump

Signing a card often reduces the buyer pool. I’d pay much less for a signed card than an unsigned one.

other ppl might pay 5000% for one tho esp if it has a charbar on it

I’d much rather NOT have a card autographed.

What is a “charbar”?
