Unusual Ebay Refund Activity

I recently had a sour purchase for about $300 that ended in my favor. Typically Ebay doesn’t refund you until the return shipping says delivered. They refunded me the money before even shipped the seller’s item back…

Secondly, I earned $30 in ebay bucks from this purchase. The ebay bucks are still in my account. Do they claw these bucks back on returns? Seems like they should otherwise people could easily cheat the system for tons of free ebay bucks.

They have always taken ebay bucks back from me when I return something.

I’m glad the case was decided in my favor, but if I was the seller I would be pissed at Ebay for taking my money back before the buyer even sent the item back…
