UK Votes LEAVE the EU

BBC projects the Leave side will win the UK Referendum.

The GBP has taken a long walk off a short pier, and as such investors are flocking to Asian currencies (most notably the JPY). JPY might drop under 100 per USD for the first time in awhile. Thoughts on how this will affect the market as Japanese cards cost more and British collectors lose an edge?

I think my collection thread might start gathering cobwebs. Yesterday £1 got you 155 yen, now it gets you 136 yen. UK peeps should take advantage of no VAT from Europe while it lasts.

Feel for u guys. Our aud has been peasant currency for over a year now

On positive side it takes many years before this goes in effect.

"And over the last week, they have shortened their odds dramatically, going from 4-6 (implying a 60 per cent chance of winning), to as much 2/9 with an 82 per cent chance of victory "

The above story was from Ladbrooks bookmaker in England. Staying in the EU was a prohibitive favorite and the bookies are pretty sharp. What happened???

True. It’s my understanding it’ll be a minimum of 2 years (after Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty is initiated) before anything happens.

I’ve been following the results all evening, but I’m not sure, this is crazy. Some people have been saying that the downpours/flooding in London may have hurt the Remain side, but that can’t be the only factor.

Not sure what methodology they were using to predict this, but there have been a couple of polls here in the US this year that were way off because they only called landlines, which skewed the demographics.

DAVID CAMERON HAS RESIGNED!

This Yankee has a take on this.

I understand that many people there were upset that our ā€œass wipeā€ president went over there to push the stay in the eu side. I had two different friends/customers say it was none of his business telling them what to do.
That may have angered and swayed just enough people to turn the election.

Bad day for o’bama because not only did he fail on that international front but he got shot down AGAIN on an executive action by our Supreme Court.

Our honorable president seems to be having many bad days in his time.

It’ll be interesting to see what happens now we’ve voted out of the EU!

I think O’bama could have a say on this, as a key ally of UK,

I do not think it had a major swing either way, will always respect a view of a US President,

I’m predicting huge political change in the west over the next 5 years, US and Europe, could be the start of our own ā€˜Arab’ Spring,

Hopefully around the world people’s voice will be heard and not that of the 1%, hope that’s not too political for this forum!

But like with everything else o’bamas done, at best he didn’t help. Of course, the ā€œleave the EUā€ crew would invite him back;)

What side of the argument were our UK members on? And why?

News says world markets are in collapse.

I read this quote…

So far we’ve lost our place in the European Union, a prime minister and Ā£200billion from the stock market and it’s not even lunchtime.

I voted Leave (just) my main reason was democracy and EU having more control over our laws and trade deals around the globe,

Whomever the UK votes in as government should have accountability to it’s people, it did not,

I was a reluctant leaver, I love Europe and agree with it’s aspirational approach, unfortunately the Eurozone has lowest level of economic growth and the highest level of unemployment than in any other advanced economic area,

It was looking within, and did not take the UK seriously when we asked for reform in the European Union, this is a strong message to anyone who feels they cannot change the world with their vote, we have,

Markets and currency will stabilise after initial ā€˜shock’ period, this will not create a worldwide recession, or one in the UK,

Just to add I agree with many remain arguments, but overall it should prove to be the correct decision,

Just my personal point of view but hopefully gives a clearer idea of how British people are thinking right now.
