Tyler's Kyogre Collection (Updated 2/23/2026)

This has been a long time coming and I’ve put it off for long enough. I didn’t want to take everything down just to take pictures, but since a recent addition forced me to completely reorganize it was the perfect opportunity to document and show everything off.

TCG

Got a great deal on the Aqua’s EX because of a slight bend in the corner. I picked up each of the Legend halves separately after waiting ages for cheap listings to come by. I’ve had the full art Primals back when I was actually playing the game instead of just collecting. I think the normal was a gift and the shiny I bought myself. The holo promo ex I also waited to find cheap. That one’s fun because younger me thought it was a myth :joy:. Only ever saw it in super grainy photos and with all other exs/EXs I knew of being foil I couldn’t comprehend it coming in both non-holo and holo.

I think I got both of the Primal Clash EXs in the same gift as the normal Primal. The V and the Dark Explorers ones were all from my brother, he actually plays the game so I can count on him for modern Kyogres and cool gifts. The DE full art was one I wanted for such a long time because I thought its pose matched the Ancient Origins Primal. I really liked the idea of the two Kyogre EXs facing each other and the two Primals doing the same in similar poses. The Call of Legends Shiny was the first shiny card I ever saw, ever got, and might have even been the first Kyogre I ever got. One of my classmates had it in their binder back in middle school and it being both shiny and legendary made it the coolest possible card for tiny me. I don’t know what I traded for it back then but in that moment I probably would have given anything :joy:.

_____'s Kyogre was another myth one. I only ever saw blurry scans and of course none of the English sites I knew about documented it. I had forgotten about it until I found an eBay auction for it. Crystal Guardians, normie Primal, and EX promo were all more brother pickups, shout out to him. 037 ex I got in an auction but didn’t notice it was creased. I want to replace it someday but I also don’t want to pay the cost of a clean replacement so I put up with this one . The new ex I got in an auction for $0.01 before shipping which was funny.

Aqua’s holo was another crease fail until I managed to find a replacement for even less than I paid for the first, which was nice. Legends Awakened reverse and Emerald holo came bundled together for a decent price. Call of Legends reverse and Cosmic Eclipse cracked ice were just standard eBay pickups and the Play stamp my brother got me.

Brother also gave me the four non-Primal Clash ones here. The non-holo I’ve had since PC came out and the cracked ice I bought when I thought I was only going for foils.

Spirit links I’ve also had since Primal Clash and the jumbo Primal was a more recent pickup, they’re a little beat up but finding nice Jumbos has been hard.

Other Non-TCG Cards

Mainly just random eBay finds I wouldn’t pay more than a few dollars for. I think they’re all knock-offs, Eif, ID, Peru, etc.

Couple of tiny lenticular cards I got from my big proxy purchase, not sure what they’re actually from but I like them. Topps Advanced card was another cheap eBay impulse buy. A few custom cards I made in middle school found in a stack of old documents. They’re kind of cringey but I think it’s fun to include them in the collection with everything else.

Japanese Arcade Tokens

This section was the initial reason for my whole Japan proxy order. I found a handful of tokens on eBay then fell down a Bulbapedia rabbit hole. These one are Battrio and I think I got all the Kyogre ones. I’m happiest about finding the white one since I couldn’t find it outside of Japan and it got listed mid-search, so I wasn’t even sure if I’d find it at all.

Tretta! I was unable to complete this set, there was one more Japanese one that never showed up and three more that were released outside of Japan. Bulbapedia didn’t even list the other three so learning about those was a surprise. I found the ones I’m missing on shopee.tw but I don’t have an easy way to order from there and proxy fees cost more than the total price of the tokens.

Ga-Olé is another incomplete one, and currently the biggest hole in this mini-collection. I’m missing seven and they’re all either obscure tournament variants or a special lottery prize. I found two of tournament ones on shopee.tw like the trettas, and I could technically get a few other of the missing ones off eBay but the prices there are absurd. I think the lottery one’s supposed to be worth something between $30-$60 going by sold prices but one’s been listed there for several years now at $300. I guess they can price it however if it’s the only one but geez.

Mezastar is another completed set as far as I’m aware. I believe the black frames were just normal tokens from the machine, yellows seemed to be media inserts, the reds were McDonald’s toys (and I know one’s technically Groudon but Kyogre is there too), and the purple was a reprint. The metallic blue one was a nice find because it was a lottery prize that I didn’t know about until I already started shopping. It was the most expensive at around $30 but I’m happy to pay that for set completion, better than the $300 Ga-Olé one anyway .

Frienda is technically complete if only because there has only been one. This token was actually just releasing near the end of my hunt so I held off on finalizing things until I could pick it up.

Figures

I believe these guys are finger puppets? Or maybe they’re just hollow figures. We’re entering the portion of my collection that I don’t know very much about. I bought a huge lot of Kyogre figures and while that’s great for the collection it does mean that I’m not sure where most of these came from. If anyone recognizes stuff and cares to help with identification I’d appreciate the help! For these I do know that there is a shiny version like the front two and I’d love to get that some day. It’s just super expensive for such a small piece so I’m not racing for it.

These ones are blaster/launcher toys. They were not part of the big lot but I still don’t know much about them. I just found them from three different sellers and loved that there were opaque, transparent, and silver variants of the toy. Only the opaque still had the actual missile though so I don’t know if there were other versions of that.

These two are 1/20th scale figures, and the Primal was the reason I had to redo my entire shelf and had the chance to take pictures. The normal Kyogre came in the lot but given it was sent with the box I believe it’s the official Scale World figure. The Primal I bought second hand but it’s from SGX Studio and I guess an unoffical continuation of that Scale World line.

I think all but one of these came from the aforementioned lot and as such I don’t know origins of most of them. I do know some of them though, Battle Figure, Trading Figure Game, Primal Kyogre Collection, the one I added from outside the lot is just a tiny bootleg. Though even if I don’t recognize everything I’m super happy to have found that listing, it just about doubled the size my collection at the time and gave me so many unique additions. It was a score, even if my wallet hurt afterwards.

Miscellaneous

Plushes! I have the Pokémon Center Primal, Sitting Cuties, and I think the last one’s a bootleg but I still love it.

Packaging and sealed! Empty Primal Clash booster wrapper, empty EX Collector’s Tin, and sealed Monster Collection figure.

Coins! I have the normal blue cracked ice coin, the Sapphire pre-order coin, Topps Chipz puck, weird military challenge coin, and a couple tiny Japanese coins from the proxy order. I don’t really know anything about the Japanese coins but I’ve seen a few other versions of in different colors or with a clear coating which would be cool to find.

Digital! I got my shiny Kyogre in OG sapphire after building a Lego robot to help. It’d just press the right button combination to do a soft reset whenever I used the remote, but it ended up being a bit of a double edged sword. It made resetting super easy, but it was so easy that I reset on two shinies before finally keeping the third. Took me over 100 days, 16 hours a day, 55,543 resets, and almost 2k AA battery charges but I finally got there. Probably should’ve just shiny hunted like a normal person but this was more interesting (Also fun fact! I had that GBA strapped into the robot under a desk lamp so long that it actually discolored the plastic. It has yellowed since and is back to one shade but the plastic under the light was noticeably whiter than the plastic that was covered and blocked from the light). Then with help from a friend we got that Kyogre traded all the way up to Home 100% legitimately, all through official games and hardware (then restored a save backup on the GBA, so technically that’s the unofficial one). The others are just all from the Shadow Kyogre weekend in Pokémon Go, six normies and a shiny. Could be fun to chase other PoGo variants, purified, lucky, normal, etc.

Brick/brick built! Nanoblock set, Japanese MegaBlocks set, MegaBlocks character brick, and custom Lego upscale of the Nanoblocks.

Actually miscellaneous! Fishing lure, glass bowl, toy watch, and Advance Movie chip were all from my proxy order. I know there’s a shiny fishing lure too that I’d love to get, but I’m not yet at the point of my life where I can drop $900 on a single plastic whale. The newspaper clippings were a cool eBay find, they’re teaching English with Pokémon scenarios. From the translations I’ve seen it’s basically “‘It’s raining hard’ That means it’s raining a lot, but also strong or violently, as if Kyogre is making it rain.” “‘Look at that!’ You would say that if you see something cool or special, like a Primal Kyogre” I’m just paraphrasing my memory of Google’s translations though, so forgive me if I’ve completely butchered it.

That’s all for now!

By my count I have 138 unique Kyogres/Primals, and I am loosely aiming to reach 382 since that’s the dex number. Still a long way to go, more than double even, but having this thread should help me keep track of and document everything. Thanks for reading! It’s a long one so hopefully I’ll be able to post it without breaking everything.

(Update 2/23/2026):

It’s been about a month since the first post and while I haven’t grown the collection a ton I did manage to get some fun additions.

Shirts

Uniqlo x Pokémon Masters EX Villains shirt. Kyogre’s only a small part of this shirt but they are a part of it so it still counts. It’s not quite my size but I got a great deal on it and if it’s going to be more for displaying than for wearing it the actual size doesn’t matter all that much.

Dolly Noir x Pokémon Hoenn Region Kyogre Over Kimono Tee. This one was such a lucky find, I really wanted some of the Dolly Noir stuff but it felt kinda expensive so I was dragging my feet. Eventually this shirt ended up selling out. But then I came across an eBay auction for one in my size and managed to get it for much less than it would’ve been on their site. I feel a little bad that I underpaid so much but I’m also extremely happy that I was able to find one.

Plush

Pokémon Center 2005 Kyogre Pokedoll. This guy was a really exciting find. I’ve seen the pokedoll Kygores online every now and then but they are always so expensive. Unlike the Primal plush I got a while back I wasn’t the only one to find this auction but I still managed to win. They weren’t the cheapest purchase, and they do have a couple of small stains and a few cracks in the red, but I love them anyways. I do believe they made two sizes of this design so I guess I have to keep an eye out for the other one to complete the pair. I’m assuming this is the smaller of the two but I haven’t seen a good enough size comparison to know for sure.

Miscellaneous

Glass Pokéball Light. This was just something I’ve always seen around and decided to finally go out and look for one. It was concerningly cheap and almost certainly even cheaper to make, but I still think it’s neat. The stand is plastic, the glass has some defects, and the hologram is a little wonky at odd angles, but it was literally $1.34 so I can excuse the cheap thing being cheap. :joy:

3D printed Yin and Yang hanger ornament thing. My parents just got some crazy multi-color 3D printer so I wanted to put together a model and test it out. Something I’ve always thought would be a fun idea was to have the two colors of Kyogre in a Yin and Yang pose. They have the teardrop shaped bodies and even the circle on their fins so I thought it would work perfect, but I never saw anyone else do the same concept so I had to make it myself. I found a model rip from the 3DS that fortunately still had the armature intact so I could pose it the way I wanted. Then I modeled a square hole in the body and converted the textures into something the printer could read. Each half took about 15 hours and while they didn’t turn out perfect I think they’re good enough. I did have to draw on the eyes myself though so I definitely could have done a bit better there.

Only five things this month but that’s where I’m at. Should be up to 143 unique items and I am practically out of space (I was out of space last time too, it’s just worse now). I’ve started looking into glass cases so hopefully I’ll be able to upgrade from the bookshelf soon and get everything to fit together in a nicer way.

This post made me realize how beautiful a Pokemon Kyogre is. Love your display and that lure is fantastic! I hope you get the shiny version someday.

What made Kyogre your favorite Pokemon?

This might be the wildest thing I’ve read on this forum and I mean that in a good way :joy: . That’s some dedication! Very nice collection!

I think it was a slow build up of a bunch of things. I had just started at a new school and was making friends through the TCG. Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire were the games at the time and I learned about the legendaries despite never playing them myself. I traded for that shiny card early on since I knew it was legendary and and it was clearly a special color. Primal Clash and Double Crisis both released that school year so the Kyogre hype kept growing. A friend once was selling a bunch of little bootleg figures for $0.25 a piece, I think bought a dollar’s worth and one was this cute little Kyogre rising from the water (directly beneath the scale Primal’s teeth in the shelf photo). One day I was completely distraught over… something, I don’t even know what it was probably just dumb kid stuff. But my Aunt was watching us that day and she asked me what my favorite Pokémon was, I guess to distract me from crying. I wasn’t sure but I did eventually settle on Kyogre, though I remember not being happy with that answer at the time. Then on my next birthday she got me the big Kyogre plush, the full art EX and Primal, and the regular EX. Even if I wasn’t sure before then that gift definitely cemented them as my favorite.

Wow, this is some serious love you put into this outstanding collection. The combination of TCG and Non–TGC is fantastic.:partying_face::partying_face::smiling_face_with_three_hearts::smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
Thank you for sharing.

Amazing collection. I like all the non-TCG stuff especially.
And jeez, that’s a lot of figures, haha. Love it!

Also, I’m amazed by your ability to stack the figures and plushies without making them fall in your last display picture. Also like some subtle details, like the mini figure sticking out of the Nanoblock one.

Out of curiosity: what did you use to make all those Battrio, Tretta, Ga-Olé, and Mezastar stick on the sides like that. I might actually do something similar in my non-TCG Seviper display eventually, since I’m almost running out of space.

What an amazing aunt! None of my family barely knows anything about Pokémon at all (minus my little brother), except for some small things they manager to remember from everything I told them over the years.
Cool that she asked about your favorite Pokémon and gave you such amazing gifts for your next birthday.

I designed and 3D printed little cases to hold them in and then just stuck those to the shelf with blue/wall tack. They’re very simplistic but they do the job! I just wish I had blue filament to print them in rather than green, it would’ve matched a lot better.
I just put the files on Thingiverse if anyone wanted to make some themselves: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:7281826

Oh, I hadn’t even noticed the borders around each from the little 3D cases in your picture. Now that you’ve shared it, I can’t believe I missed all the dark green border tbh. Pretty cool, and well designed!

I don’t have a 3D printer, and I don’t think Seviper has any Ga-Olé or Mezastar unfortunately, and only two Tretta and one Battrio. I didn’t realize you had such a specific method for sticking them to your shelved closet. I mostly have pogs and stuff like that, so I think I’ll try to find a different approach eventually, once I run out of space. I’m definitely inspired of sticking items on the closet walls to save space, though.

So much mini figures ahah !
That seems very very complete, congratz
The digital section is a great idea also, I sincerely hope that you catched all your Kyogres using super ball, because I think thats the best pokemon / pokeball combo in the whole poke universe

I am watching this thread for sure

Thank you for sharing your gets with us! For the Kyogre Pokedoll you are correct he does have 1 other variant often referred to as an oversized Pokedoll. He will be about double the size of the one you currently have. The space issue is so real though. I feel like I never have enough space no matter what I do!

Hellooo
I just moved to a new appartment and I am actually sorting my old boxes. I just fell upon the steelbook of Saphir Alpha from the 3DS, its completely new and feature a nice kyogre on it, I think it should be better in your collection than in my basement boxes

Current price is minimum 55€ on ebay, I can make you an offer below market price no problem (in private to avoid flooding the thread).
Would you be interested ?

That’s an incredibly cool collection, but i do have to wonder how come the art in kyogre cards is a direct split between super badass and a goofy fish, everything is in either category  also didn’t know about the cosmic eclipse cracked ice foil variant, i had kyogre and groudon in my wants list so it was an easy change from non holo to the cracked ice variant. And a special mention for the custom cards you made, adorable ones! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Woah, that is awesome. I feel like I’m always learning about cool new things with my guy on them. I’d like to say that I’m interested, but I’m trying to at least be somewhat careful about my spending and I’m not sure I could give you a fair amount for it. I really do appreciate the offer though!

Okey no problem, it will go back to my basement box then so feel free to ping me again if you change your mind !
