I know a few card shops run gold hustles on the side as well, as the business model is fairly similar, just in coins/precious metals rather than cardboard…
Has anyone here successfully traded pokémon for gold before?
I don’t know of anyone. I’m sure someone out there would be up for this, but because of the high price of gold, you would be talking about higher end cards (>USD 1K). My two cents: Most people would probably not do this, because they like the buyer protection provided by online platforms like ebay, whereas this gold trade thing is riskier in many aspects.
That’s why I love the Pobjoy Mint coins, best of both worlds

I personally have not traded any collectibles/cards for bullion, but if I’m selling locally I am willing to take gold or silver for anything that I sell. I have no problem taking it as I prefer it over cash if I don’t need to spend it right away.
