@jeremypadawer, As @mojotbone, just said, Flippertools / Watchcount won’t give the correct price if the buyer accepts a best offer price proposed by the seller. When a listing ends, you will still be able to see if the item had a “Best Offer” option available. If it did *and* if Flippertools / Watchcount list the final sales price as being equal to the Buy It Now price, then it may be the case that a best offer was accepted for a lower price even though these websites will show otherwise. Just something to always look out for. This is why I the data of $2,300 for the Wartortle and the $7k for the Nidoking are unreliable, and I would move those estimates to $1,500 and $4,000 based on recent sales.
Easily. There hasn’t been a public sale of one in a long time but it wouldn’t surprise me to see this card approach the $2k mark the next time one is sold publicly. Very low pop and a very popular and beautiful card.
Anyone find out what the ninetales on eBay listed for $10k obo sold for? Full disclosure I own one (not for sale) and I’m not trying to price hype lol but at the time I purchased I paid a tiny bit less than mewtwo for it and more than magneton so I’d probably put it between those two values. And agreed on the Nidoking, it’s pretty much always been poliwrath at the bottom of the food followed by machamp, nidoking & zapdos I’d say.
Edit: Poliwrath just sold for $4,650 OBO, same as ninetales where the best offer accepted shows as listed price so may have been offer accepted via message that others were talking about
Are the questions about the chansey at 13.5k because folks are questioning the authenticity of that private sale? Or because it was such a good price that people are shocked that it sold for so little?
PSA pop shows both Shadowed and Shadowless copies of Machamp together. Is there an educated estimation how many acutal Shadowless 1st editions there are in PSA 10?
@jeremypadawer , if there’s one thing I’ve learned since being digitally introduced to you is you take criticism so well. You’re respectful to anyone who “disagrees” with you and always listen. It’s a breath of fresh air with everything going on lately. So glad you made this thread man!
@gemmintpokemon did you contact the buyer or seller or were you somehow able to see the actual price online because I couldn’t. Also, the ninetales I’m talking about on eBay ended on July 24th so maybe you’re talking about a different one or the seller forgot to take the listing down.
Thanks!! That clears it up. I was just making sure no one was doubting the price Jeremy posted. I Would know- like most of the public prices for the last sales on this list- that private sale for chansey and the one for Venasaur- were both mine. Thanks for letting me know it was a decent price! I am new to Pokémon cards. This set has been a monster to try to build. But- gotta catch em all!
Ps- a few guys I bought from told me to join this site- and I am so happy I did. You are all so friendly and have so much knowledge!! Thanks for this great resource. I can’t wait to hit 50 posts so I can finally buy stuff from you all by posting a WTB thread.
You have multiple experienced collectors in here telling you that you did extremely well for yourself by getting the Chansey at that price. Awesome job man, and good luck continuing to build the set! Great to have you in the community.
Thank you. This has been an evolution for me. It’s a learned behavior. After 20 years in the toy industry, where I cater to buyers of all stripes (Walmart, Target, Amazon, Walgreens, Grocery/Drug, Big Box, Mom & Pop, etc) as well as to licensors (Pokémon who became my business partner, Microsoft, Disney, Universal and about a zillion others), I have fully embraced the perspective’s of others. It’s one of the really good things about aging. You can look forward to being a better version of yourself. Maybe not better looking, maybe not more athletic, but more capable… and that’s what it’s all about. Regardless, what you said here means a lot to me.
Matt! Welcome! What I’ve found is that the Pokémon collector community is one of the most helpful, knowledgable, passionate communities I’ve ever come across. Make sure you join on Instagram as well and add me there - @ jeremypadawer - you will also find so many familiar faces from EFour. While I’m also relatively new here, I’ve been in the Pokémon toy business since 2006.
