I thought that was a crazy steal for giratina alt art but apparently that’s around the psa 10 price range on ebay and european prices on cardmarket are just crazy. Raw prices are that 350-400€ on minimum even without shipping and fees, also a very optimistic listing of psa 8 copy for almost 500€

Actual robbery on par with @quibble’s Local Game Charity Shop. Congrats!

Most of the world not having easy access to these auctions makes a huge difference.

Prices are only trending downwards over here also. A good time to be a buyer fs.

That’s the lowest price I’ve seen on the Zard in years

There’s a BIN listing for one much cheaper over here actually.

How much cheaper??? I can’t recall seeing a sale under $3000 since 2019 here in the US.

Sorry mate, my mistake. I thought you meant the gold star and then checked comps and realized you were talking about the ecard promo.

Wow that FA Mario Pika auto was quite low

Don’t want to ruin the party, but who is buying and why auctioning in China non chinese cards ? it looks close to indecent…considering that the average China’s per capita disposable income is $13000 (per annum in 2024). Just looks weird. Just an out of the box opinion.

I watched this short video made some time ago on the China Pokemon scene which may give a good insight to your question. Also, I am sure every region has people who can spend more than the average income on hobbies!

Cheers!

Don’t they auction Japanese cards in America and Europe? While most auctions are for Japanese cards over here (as they are worth more) Chinese cards also have a large market that is growing.

It’s safe to assume that the people collecting over here, especially at the mid/top end may not be doing it for the conventional reasons people do outside of China.

Also, I’m not sure where the $13k of disposable income stat comes from, however if you’re talking in USD, I’d expect that number is widely exaggerated or that the median is much lower. I checked google which suggests the average salary is around $4500USD a month and that is so far off it’s wild. $2k USD a month is considered a high salary for most people over here, especially outside of Shanghai and Beijing.

These look like official numbers showing much lower disposable income just like you said

This seems much more realistic. Anecdotally the majority of the local people I know that don’t own businesses earn about $1kUSD per month and are subject to a bunch of KPIs to even clear that.

That Toyota campaign was free money

Why are we looking at average salaries to ask who’s buying cards when the average person doesn’t buy cards?
