2026 Valentine’s Day Update 2, Electric Boogaloo Holiday Special!

Hello again everyone! It is time for the next update to the Koffing, Weezing, and Galarian Weezing (KWGW) collection!
It has been a whole year since my last update and a lot has happened with the collection! New Koffings, new Weezings, new cameos, and lots of Fun Stuff you don’t see everyday! It is still Valentine’s Day where I am at, but I admit I am barely getting this out in time for the Valentine’s Day Update 2, Electric Boogaloo Holiday Special.
There’s a good variety this time around and not just with the cards, so let’s all get into it!

Cards
Let’s launch straight into some of the bigger card purchases I’ve made over the last year. To start, I have added both the Web Series 1st edition and unlimited Dark Weezings!
The Web ones are both non holo and I think the e series borders make an otherwise tame art a lot cooler! A keen enjoyer of the KWGW thread may see that I already have a CGC copy of the Web Weezing. I wanted to avoid cracking it, so I made sure to grab a second raw one ![]()
Now for Dark Weezing that we all know and love, Team Rocket Returns! In contrast to the prior Dark Weezing, I think it’s safe to say that most people enjoy this art. It is done by the amazingly talented Arita and is one of his best! I especially love the dual type cards we saw during the ex era. Dark and Grass? Cool! This was pretty revolutionary at the time and we have yet to see dual types done in as cool a design since.
In 2025, Koffing and Weezing enjoyers were blessed with multiple new arts, including the first Art Rare/Illustration Rare for Weezing! I am thrilled that Weezing finally got one. Koffing actually had a Character Rare way back in Cosmic Eclipse, featuring Roxie (more on that duo below). Of all the new arts, Team Rocket’s Koffing by Kodama is my favorite. Koffing having the orange smoke is something you don’t see every day and really makes the art stick out.
Fun Fact: Koffing and Weezing smoke has different colors in many card arts. They’ve had yellow, orange, tan, blue, green, white, purple, red, and various shades in between. Its a cool thing I hadn’t really realized until looking over the orange smoke we see in this art. It is nice that artists are given some freedom in how they color the smoke, balancing different lights and environments to achieve different smoke effects. I recommend looking through some of the arts to see the different colors ![]()
I have also added the reverse Koffing from Expedition, the non holo from Japanese Expedition, and a couple more reverses.
As many species collectors do, I bought a bunch of copies of some of my favorite arts. When doing so with fossil unlimited Weezing, I noticed some printing variances that I thought were neat.
Cameos
Progress on cameos has been steady. One of the cooler cameos is that of Switch, from Expedition. There are four variations of this art. Two on English and two on Japanese. Interestingly, the Japanese had a release in Expedition (only 1st edition for this card, though some JP Expedition cards have extremely rare unlimited copies) and then a second release in the Theater Limited VS Pack. The latter has a cool “VS” set logo. Porygon may be at the front here, but I will collect any card featuring KWGW, no matter how small they are!
An interesting cameo that I was not aware until this past year was that of Roxie from SM Tag Team All Stars. Interestingly, this card is actually Japanese exclusive, with no English copy existing! I ended up purchasing this CGC 10 copy and am happy with the decision! I hadn’t purchased any Japanese full arts before, so I was pretty excited and maybe a bit skeptical. I try to prioritize raw cards for the KWGW collection, but I was happy to add this CGC 10! I have some other slabs that I may share in a future update, though it’s just the Roxie for now ![]()
The “cameo” takes the form of the skull and crossbones and vague outlines of what were/are Koffings. Roxie and Koffing are pretty intertwined, with Roxie being the Bassist for “Koffing and the Toxics” in the tv show. Virbank City Gym features a Koffing in the background too.
Another cool fact is that in the Japanese version of Roxie’s theme music in B2W2, they actually spell out D O G A R S, which is Koffing’s name in Japanese. This was changed to P O K E M O N in other languages though. The link below shows the differences. Pretty cool!
I haven’t played the main games much nor have I watched the tv show much, so it was interesting to learn that Koffing has had a strong presence in both at various points. There are more cameo cards related to Roxie’s gym, though those aren’t in this update ![]()

Sealed Product
Simplified Chinese released these really cool Coin Collection Boxes that each feature one of the original 151 Pokémon on the front. They also come with 3 packs and then cards and coins featuring the box Pokémon. They are exclusive as well.
There was also an Indonesian blister of sorts that has a promo featuring the new Koffing art from Journey Together.
Lastly we have a Japanese Glory of Team Rocket pack. Koffing is featured on a lot of this set’s products, so I will eventually add the rest (looking at you English!).

Fun Stuff!
Now these next few things are part of what keeps species collecting fresh and exciting! I love the cards of course, but its just as fun to see just how many wacky things Pokemon has made over the years featuring your favorite Pokemon. Additionally, new merch is being pumped out constantly, so its highly likely your favorite Pokemon has been featured somewhere.
First we have some Dog Tags featuring Koffing! These are really cool and I was fortunate enough to find some that aren’t too yellowed/faded.
Next we have some marble bags and marbles to go with them! I really like the Teal colored bag. It’s one of my favorite colors and really pops well. The marbles are in surprisingly good condition.
Back in the Day, Burger King had Pokeball keychain toys that had spinners in them. I bought this Koffing one which came with the original wrapper as well. The toy is surprisingly heavy and dense feeling.
I also grabbed these sleeves and pins. We got a pretty decent stock of new merch featuring KWGW in 2025. These are just some of the things I bought, with some others on the backlog as I shift back towards cards more.
It wouldn’t be “Fun” Stuff without "Fun"skool! These “Who am I?” cards are very reminiscent of the “Who’s that Pokemon?” clips from the tv show. Quite nostalgic!

Looking Forward
Looking forward, I have some MAJOR things happening with the collection and am excited to show you all once some more developments occur. I will likely wait until said things are done happening to share my next update, so hopefully it won’t take too long
. (it’s not a snap card btw)
P.S.
I know I haven’t shown the binder progress much, as I only want to show fully completed pages. Fortunately, I was able to complete 1 page since my last update, so here is that!

And that’s that! Tune in next time (hopefully not in a year) for the next update to thread!
