Ditto is a “failed” Mew clone? (well supported)

@7l7l i forgot all about the ditto/mew theory! That was another I remember hearing around the good ol playground!

Another one I also recall hearing about the video games was that the Mewtwo with the armor featured in the first movie you were able to catch in Red/Blue by first defeating Giovanni and the Elite Four, then going and and filling your pokedex. That was one of my main motivators to fill it (and again, still the only game I ever fully finished) but once I did I debunked it pretty quickly.

So many of these theories I actually wish were true, and im really loving everyones responses and input here, so thanks to all that have participated), but it sucks a lot of them just came up short. Regardless though, thats just how awesome of an impact Pokemon had on all of us to where it let our imaginations run wild and we couldnt contain that excitement. Makes me wonder if theres any of that today with the newer games and the younger generations just coming into it all as well (but the damn internet probably ruins that haha)

I remember when Fire red and leaf green came out hearing stories and looking up rumours on how to get to 8 and 9 island without the nintendo event spent over 200 hours just doing strats on trying to do that sadly not one of them worked :blush: still to this day i have never gotten their.

@jameskray haha man I want to replay those now. I havent played firered in years, but that had to be one of the coolest remakes ever back in the day. But I can totally vouch for dumping hours into someones word of mouth story just to come up short, but you know whats interesting compared to other things i was into during these times is that no matter what the rumor was i heard or how many times i would try to achieve it even though it nearly always was false, I always always had fun in the process. And thats what its really all about so to me it was never just all for nothing :blush:
