Zoroa in the illustration contest, which was exhibited in large numbers this month.
The average number of PSAs for Arceus in the 2009 illustration contest was about 5. Zoroa, however, averaged about 30, which is clearly more. In addition, there were about 10 bare-bones cards exhibited that were not PSA-graded. If there were 200 cards, would there be 50 on the market? Arceus is obviously few and far between.I suspect that about 2,000 Zoroa cards were issued, not 200. I have no evidence to support this, but from the circumstances of the exhibit, I think so. I would like to hear everyone’s opinion.
Some of those auctions photos look like the same background.

There are images to support the information below, Someone with the actual images will need to add them to this thread.
There was confirmation from winners that they received 100 copies of their cards. However some of these winners got their cards in packages marked with quantities of 200
It’s likely that the vast majority of sets we see are extras. The original sets which came out a decade ago were all extra sets as the winners only received their cards. Someone out of Japan sold over 30 complete sets of the zorua Zoroark around a decade ago.
As is very apparent there are extras for almost all cards. The difference we see in the 2009 versus 2010 sets is likely a fault of how the extras made it into the market not a fact of how the winners sell their cards.
Only a few winners from either years have even confirmed to be selling their copies
I don’t think there is a likely hood of 2000 copies for these cards
As we are seeing with higher end trophies the vast majority of the total supply makes it to the market once prices climb high enough and people start know about them
The 2010 cards simply had a fast track to this supply reaching the market since they were sold into the market so fast after release.

Zoroa for the illustration contest is sold in large quantities. A check of the same site shows that none of the Arceus in the illustration contest are for sale. What is the difference? It seems that there is a huge difference in the amount of distribution.

In fact, each card had different characteristics, such as the location of scratches. I also purchased one of these cards. Thus, these are all different cards.
Thats a long way to go until 2,000. Not sure how seeing a handful of copies appear got you to that number. If there were hundreds appearing at once that is a different story.

I’m sorry. I said there was no Arceus at all, but I looked again and found Arceus. But much less than the illusory Zoroa.
It is certainly possible that they are extras, but I don’t think all of them are. However, my idea of 2,000 pieces seems to have been wrong. I checked the Japanese website for the number of Zoroa copies for the illustration contest and found no information at all. The description on the storefront says it’s limited to 100 copies . Perhaps the Japanese do not know that 200 copies were ordered.
Wonder if it’s the original artist selling those. I was kinda sketched out when I bought mine because I swore they threw up a listing every couple of months with what looked to be the exact same pictures. Turns out it was the original artist slowly selling then and the just took the pictures almost identically every time.

This Arceus is listed by the same seller, but this seller is a store, not an individual.
While browsing through the Zoroa listing, I found an interesting photo. Is the seller who gave this photo the same person who gave the photo of Zoroa’s order of 200 pieces? In the comments, he says that his own relatives won the prize.

This time, however, the paper with the number of sheets ordered was not included in the photo. It could be someone else. Is Zoroa 200 pieces, 100 pieces, or more? It is frustrating not knowing.

I would like to ask in comments whether he was ever sent 10 different Zoroa, 10 each, for a total of 100. We also ask if a paper was enclosed stating that the order quantity was 200 pieces. I intend to get some new information.
The contest cards are amazing and hold a great mystery behind them.
I think people get too hung up on the numbers associated with their distribution though and it can detract from what they simply are. Just super rare and cool cards.
Since almost every card we thought had a specific distribution number, there’s always been more. In some cases, a lot more. When people tie numbers to cards, even when it’s TPC themselves it does no good. Another copy always manages to show up.
If you do find out any new information from the seller though, please keep the thread updated.
Thanks

If that seller says it’s a relative that won, then it’s probably the same one. At least that’s the one I bought mine from said. At least for the bottom Zorua. Guess they got their hands on more now.

I found an interesting article. The article, written in Japanese, describes a man who has an endless collection of certain Pokémon cards. According to the article, the collection was acquired through an exchange with another card collector. The extremely small amount of Arceus on the market may be because someone else is collecting Arceus. That would also explain the small amount of Pichu in circulation. The large quantity of Zoroa in circulation may be due to the fact that few people in Japan like Zoroa. This article was published in 2018, and if someone was collecting Arceus in exchange before 2018 then I would be convinced.

I sent a message via X to one of the people I am talking to in this article. The message stated that he thought Zoroa’s circulation was higher than other limited editions. He replied that he thought so. He replied that Zoroa has been on the market more since 2018 than Arceus or Pichu. His guess is that Zoroa has a flow of leaks from the people involved. He replied that he thought at least more than 100 had been issued.
He is still a collector as of 2018. As such, he knows a lot about Pokémon cards. There is a lot of talk in the forums about Zoroa being passed off as a leak by those involved, and his story reinforces that.
