Hard to find Umbreon mirror holo. I am after the unlimited, so if anyone needs the 1st edition, here it is for a reasonable price.

I just saw these two cards go for this much on eBay?! Is there a catch?

If it’s too good to be true it usually is. The seller has 0 feedback and looks like it would have been a buy it now purchase.
The buyer will be protected at least

What I don’t understand though is, what does the seller have to gain? If he’s new on eBay, which he is, the funds are locked anyway for 30 days until the buyer gets the item.
Stupidity knows no boundaries.

Meaning the scammers are dumb and probably didn’t know that

Haha no worries, he definitely wasn’t. Ive also always wondered what the point of these dumb scams are too but I always assumed it was to steal emails and addresses. Who knows

I would say that’s an interest free loan to the seller that the buyer will have to work out with eBay to get his/her money back. I fell for the “too good to be true” meme at least once in the past few years and had to get eBay to refund me.

I understand “usually” is a qualifier here, but I still hate this phrase. Many MANY great opportunities are missed because of it.
And, if this is a scam, you are protected by ebay policies, so is it REALLY too good to be true?
Is it worth giving all your personal information and a short term loan to a scammer for the 0.01% chance of saving a few bucks on some cardboard?

I feel like it’s too hard to describe in any other way that doesn’t lead to a novel. So here’s the novel.
I haven’t looked at the original listing but if someone is smart enough to title it in that manner then they are likely smart enough to know what they have so are going to at least aim for close to the value. Unless they accidentally missed a 0 off on their buy it now then that suggests to me they know they’ll get someone who will buy right away. They have 0 feedback so that’s a massive red flag.
Add all that together and it can be considered too good to be true. At least too rich for my blood.
But I saw a PSA 9 1st Edition Base Raichu about a year ago and it was listed buy it now for $300 and I hesitated and someone beat me to it. So it can be worth a punt if you weight it up.
Being out of pocket, even with ebays buyer protection and even on a credit card, for £1,000 is a lot. Especially if the scammer sends you a fake slab or something that they can drag it out by claiming you are the problem buyer and they are an innocent seller.

They won’t have enough on me to constitute PII, BUT for some people, that is a good consideration. It is a question of risk tolerance.

Agreed on all counts. And a sad but true fact. Often paragraphs are needed. The sayings and things we’re all so fond of… often fall short. They also often get chopped even more to undermine the meaning, “Just a few bad apples,” actually refers to the expression, “A few bad apples spoil the bunch.”

Card seems pretty clean, maybe has a crease somewhere? Could be a nice binder copy if someone is trying to get the world collection pikas. This one is the priciest one of the 2010 world collection pikas
