The Giant Professional Grading Thread

Need second opinion on this grade. Rest are clean beside these two nicks. I’m thinking it might be an 7.

I would say a PSA 7 conservatively. PSA 8-9 if you’re lucky.

Strictly centering-wise, are we black labeling with this one?

Even if it were a flat 49:59, would BGS consider this a BGS 10?

Nope, left border is visibly thicker

Thanks!

So it needs to be 50:50 with no exceptions (e.g. 49:51 with everything else flawless) wouldn’t make it?

The shadow on one side makes it look thicker also.

Depends if the Beckett grader actually measures it, or goes by eye appeal. In my experience, they care much more about visual appeal than technicalities.

Truth is if you submitted the same card 10 times to bgs it wouldn’t get the black label all ten times. Impossible to know

RIP SGC. Knew this was coming after the acquisition but it still sucks. I liked SGC quite a bit for my vintage sports and modern marvel stuff

It wouldn’t even get 4 of the same subgrades one time

Any chance for a ten with these ink dots?

No whitening on the back with nice centering
At first i didnt notice the dots. Normally if there is like one dot psa would still 10 my cards
This looks like 3 or 4 though and they are on the front…But on the border and almost off the edge to the point most of them would be hidden in the psa holder anyways

If its not a psa10 contender I would rather keep it in the binder so i dont want to just grade it if it has no chance

I’d definitely suggest to keep this card in the binder.

According to Hoge, a significant amount of SGC’s staff will shift to work with PSA. The company will also utilize SGC’s Boca Raton, Florida, location to help supplement PSA’s grading efforts.

PSA is eyeing CGC’s territory.

Does anyone know why this card

doesn’t match either of these

It looks like it matches the 2nd entry to me?

Same… apparently the set registry disagrees lol

Might be sensitive to the “0” in “096” vs “96”

Because the Set Registry is an archaic after thought

I’ve been having issues like this too. I have a couple mid-era set cards I can’t get added to my registry and can’t figure out why.

Yeppp. I enjoy using the registry but I’m at the point of just moving to spreadsheets. They are so slow to add cards or sets I’m about ready to give up on it. It just took four months for them to add four cards to a set, and I’ve had a set request in for almost a year. Obviously PSA doesn’t care much about the registry anymore.

Just got a big PSA submission back after a long time not submitting. I wonder if they’ve tightened the criteria for 10s for the old WoTC non-holo cards, at least since I submitted 2 years ago. Before even the occasional white dot on a corner could still land a 10, now I feel they are quite strict on the back. Also just possible that I’m getting worse at ID’ing good cards as I get older, ha. Anyways, a few highlights .
