No card cleaning tricks before submitting? That’s a very impressive return.

Honestly believe me or not I have no idea how to do that , plus I have a serious havs problem lol so I’d probably do more harm then good to the cards.

That Politoed is so beautiful  Glad to see it’s still possible to grade cards like that in a 10

Tbh I thought at most I’d get psa 9s for these kind of cards I was really suprised to see a couple of 10s, makes me feel more confident with the next 50 or so I have waiting to go.

… on top of this international shipments are still closed and no news yet if London Card Show dropoffs will still go ahead next month. Sad times

TCG bulk has gone from $15 a card to $19 a card (30% increase?) in approx. 2 months time, wow!

gettin covid vibes…hopefully it doesn’t keep getting pricier with the turnaround time extending further and further.

The crazy thing to think about is, I have non-Pokemon TCG to grade, and right now at these price points it’s cheaper to grade with Beckett and get subgrades than it is PSA bulk.

I don’t think it’s smart of them to overhire in each temporary bubble boom from every tcg. They’re smart to just wait a couple months instead of being overstaffed

You mean these sale prices we’re seeing aren’t sustainable?

Could use some opinions; a card I’ve been looking for has popped up as a CGC 9. I primarily collect PSA 9’s, and some CGC 9’s when I find a great deal on a great looking card, with the intent to cross grade in future. What do y’all think about the back on this CGC 9? Any thoughts on cross grade potential for this one? Front has zero issues to my eye, it’s just the minor corner wear on the back shown here.

So after getting my last submission back, I decided to start tracking how my grading results compared to my pre-grading. Both to see how accurate I was, and if there was any noticeable changes in rates. My results can be found here: PSA Completely Random Grades in 2025? - #51 by cwebfan23

I wanted to continue with something similar for my most recent submission (submitted Feb 2025, grades arrived May 2025). But because this submission was mostly modern, with some vintage, I decided to break it down by both language and vintage vs modern. Here are the results:

Classification Correctly Pre-Graded Undergraded Pre-Grade Overgraded Pre-Grade
Vintage English 0% 14% 86%
Vintage Japanese 0% 33% 67%
Modern English 36% 60% 4%
Modern Japanese 21% 75% 4%

Its really important to note that this is still way too small of a sample size to come to a full conclusion, but as shown by the data, I yet again struggled with vintage being consistently downgraded, which has been a trend with my submissions since late 2024. I was very happy with the modern results, so I can’t really complain too much about the overall results of this submission.

I’m very interested to see what happens with my next submission (sent March 2025). It was sent after I realized how much worse my submissions were doing, so I was significantly more strict with my pre-grading. The whole submission is vintage as well. Fingers crossed it does better than this one did!

Looks clean enough for a 9 imo as long as there aren’t any other flaws

Thanks for sharing this data. As someone who is not into grading, I find these data points to be fascinating. Considering your grades are spot on or rather conservative for 96% of modern cards, do you know or maybe have figured out where is your struggle point with Vintage? Or rather, where in vintage your pre-grading scale possible does not match that of the company?

Thanks for sharing the data.

Cheers!

That’s what I’m trying to figure out myself  it’s a bit difficult to pin down when cards I think deserve a 7-8 get a 9, and cards I think deserve an 8-9 get a 7…

Obviously I can’t truly quantify my pre-grading ability, but it’s been trained on past PSA results that I’ve received. I’m not accusing PSA of being more strict on vintage, but I’ve been a bit frustrated with the results over the past 7-8 months. I’m mostly using this exercise to help calibrate my pre-grading for future submissions.
