Seemed like a good deal for a nm unlim holo
Just got my first straight up foreign message on ebay.
Buyer from Taiwan. I was already going to comment recently on just how much everything is changing but yeah, this and many other things have been so weird. Like we have to consider how much money is pouring in to explain all this nonsense going on. But for me to get a message in some form of chinese, I suppose it is taiwanese, just illustrates how different things have become.
Also, while pokemon has always been fickle with the relationship between buyers and sellers, the things I have witnessed since listing some graded cards for the first time in a hot minute have been very eye opening. I never used to get the kind of exchanges I see here a lot. Been getting quite a few bizarre ones and just generally having people make offers and when you counter you just never hear back. And I’m not talking about $500 counter I and I counter 1k. I’m talking a $550 counter to that and radio silence. Weird times.
Had a guy actually reach out on a $6 card. A SIX DOLLAR CARD, and say:
Brother, ground advantage is $5.50. You really think I, a 15 year account on ebay, with 2k feedback, am really selling this for a loss? This one amused me quite a bit. Both the astonishing message but also the bravery, the sheer outlandish confidence to attempt to haggle on a $6 card in this way, by these means. Incredible audacity. This was already the lowest price on ebay for said NM card by the way. As is usually the case.
Nobody wants it until it is expensive…
You are talking about vendors and not collectors (which could overlap, but usually doesn’t)
And vendors do not want to touch ANYTHING that doesn’t have less then 3 comps in the past 6 months.
This is just par for the course for the average flipper bro. Not surprising at all about that. Opportunity is lost when knowledge isn’t sought after rather than $$$.
Example:
Back in early 2024, I had a vendor buddy who was “stuck” with a Water and Fire Deck VS series pack that he paid “too much” for that he could not move. (AKA: could not market or sell due to his clientele)
I offered a pretty reasonable trade for the pack and was able to aquire it for a cost basis of $480. Years later it paid off and I had the chance to open the pack and pulled a Sabrina’s Tyranitar as well as a bunch of other high valued cards.
Just goes to show that there are plenty of opportunities in the act of sitting on things with fundamentals, then selling for a 20% profit and moving on.
Good on you for not selling too early and having that rarity aspect in your head where it just doesn’t make sense to sell for something being so rare.
Today’s market reminds me of 2022-23 when all my Japanese cards were going back over to Japan where I bought them.
The great wealth redistribution over the Atlantic.
Essentially “Where’s the cheapest option?” Is very rapidly becoming here in the US.
Just as shown in a Pikachu V full art from VMAX Climax in PSA 10 was selling for $200 all day… Then over a week started selling in Japan for close to $600…
Crazy times again
Can someone please make it make sense to me? Which would you rather have, solid promos and cash left over, or a common…?
Although the promo is better, it could just be someone who bought both and still has cash left over
I cannot believe 033/P Sunset Mew is still that low compared to everything else. I can only guess because its a non-holo…
Curious where this PSA 10 Mew will end, they don’t auction too often: https://www.ebay.com/itm/306867524779
One just closed on Cardova for 8k, will be fun to compare
japanese base pika (not no rarity) going for 5k is one of the funniest thing about this boom
i think it was slightly about 5 for a brief moment
Hilarious. Reminds me of the 1st ed Jungle Pikachu during 2020-2021.
that one is currently higher than the 2021 price ![]()
True, but it crashed monumentally between booms.
That’s absolutely wild
Good art
It’s only plus 10-15%, some are 25% ![]()
Does this win the price increase award for this boom? It was $125 exactly a year ago.
$350 2 months ago
