I was spending hundreds of dollars on ripping hidden fates in 2019, didn’t even know the card existed
Is it just Gengar/PSA 10s or are others feeling a general price increase in Japanese vintage?
I have the same feeling that a lot of vintage Japanese slightly increasing at the moment. At least for cards over around 25€ I feel they are getting slghtly more expensive at the moment. I have plenty of doubles of my vintage Japanese cards for sale and especially in the last two weeks I got way more requests for those and sold way more than in the previous weeks.
Most things are slightly up with more popular stuff being very high in psa 10 it seems
a few of the vintage/mid era houndooms I have are also experiencing big rises
Pretty big sale for this card compared to some recent comps. I’d love to hear if it gets paid @smpratte if you’re allowed to disclose. In any case great sale!
Paid!
6k after the (somewhat sleazy) buyer’s premium. one of the bigger premiums over PSA I’ve seen CGC Pristines run for a bit.
I am not surprised that this card sold for this price. But at the same time, I absolutely do not trust PokeColor or their auctions.
Not saying I disagree, but how are pokecolor shills less noble than Z&G or Probstein shills?
I think @dyl is referring to that poke color is shilling the items themselves, where Probstein is usually the consignee or other owners of the card.
There’s proof their account is shilling their own items and these cards belong to the owner?
There was an account that had 100% bid activity with 2000+ bids in a month. Here is the post: UPDATE: WE ARE BING CHILLING - #24 by Dyl
Definitely sus. There’s a very strong likelihood that account is associated with PokeColor.
However, my point is if we are scrutinizing PokeColor for shill bidding (and rightly so), why aren’t we doing the same for the big US consigners that repeatedly see record high sales every week? A lot of folk seem to take Z&G’s IG sold posts at face value, and I don’t see the same level of investigation with their auctions and bidder activity.
Because there is cut and dry evidence for pokecolor. There isn’t the same for other consigners.
It’s bush league to shill bid. Logically as a consigner, your goal is to sell and be paid. Shilling risks not having an organic winner. I’d be surprised if Probstein, who does 100m in sales a year, is shilling Pokémon cards. Regardless, there isn’t any evidence like there is with pokecolor. Honestly that’s the worst shill account I’ve ever seen.
Hmm, so despite PokeColor offering consignment services they’re willing to shoot themselves in the foot just to shill their own items?
I wonder if it has to do with lower sales volume. They’re a new auction house from what was reported in this thread. If they were doing similar sales as probstein, perhaps the incentive to shill would be a lot lower.
I think desperation is a motivation. Ironically their prices realized aren’t great even with shill bids. Perhaps due to their location.
I see. Those are all possible factors that could explain why they would be inclined to so blatantly shill. I also don’t think the current geopolitical situation is doing them any favours for improving international sales (I recall they charge an absurd amount to ship outside of China).
Anyway, appreciate the consigner pov. Helps put things in perspective!
