The funny thing is that I priced these cards so much higher than everyone else at the original time of listing. Entertaining to see them suddenly become one of the cheapest options over time! The one thing with eBay buyers though, is that even if you’re already 20-30% cheaper than the next listing, it’s still somehow not cheap enough.

Seems like there’s been a slight correction for a lot of the high end modern that shot up when English did. Alt art TTGX and V/VMax’s have started to slide back down a bit.

Some cards really haven’t slid too much and are continuing to climb. It’s kinda funny how arbitrary the market seems at times.
Some cards seemed like they were correcting, and then have gone back up again, e.g, Giratina V from Lost Abyss.

Ive been waiting on that Giratina card since it came out. I still remember where I was when I saw the launch day prices, which were genuinely unheard of at the time (ahhh gone are the days). Ill probably just pop the Chinese one in my binder and call it a day.
Some of these cards have no business being anywhere near the price they are. English is the worst offender rn. Promos that have been a couple dollars-- you got people just casually holding lots of 50x because of how cheap and abundant these cards were just a few months ago. Such a weird time.

I picked up a raw NM copy for about 335 in late 2023, and have been wanting to buy another but can’t really justify it at these prices.
Thinking of doing the same (buying Chinese copies) for some of the truly out of reach cards, same/similar texture for a fraction of the price.
Edit: And I fully agree. I will die on the hill that the Magikarp from Paldea Evolved is one of the most artificial price surges ever.

Hi All, I’m new to commenting, but have been listening to all you beautiful people for some time now. My family travels to Japan often and I am now in a place where i can afford some S-tier pokestuff, I’m looking into getting a couple of starter deck boxes. Will be looking to purchase a 104-01 and 104-0061. These will never be opened and will sit in my safe for the next generation. I have a pretty good understanding of pricing on most english vintage, but I’m having trouble with getting my head around a market price for these decks specifically. I understand the differences, but pricing is all over the place. My understanding is that market for 104-0061 is about $500-650 a deck and 104-01 is about $1K-1.5K a deck. A 104-0061 box would be about $6500 - 8K and a 104-01 box would go for around 10-12K. Thoughts? Thanks

I get some people don’t like Japanese cards, but personally I absolutely love them nowadays. There was an Oscos back in IL when I was a kid that had a booster box of Japanese cards. And I bought one not even realizing it it wasn’t English and pulled a Holo gyarados, but was so upset that it was in Japanese I had my mom return the pack for an English one. Then didn’t get anything good lol.

This isnt market related, but does anyone have experience shipping with EMS into Canada? I shipped home a package from Blackship in Japan on January 22nd. It arrived in customs on the 26th and has been stuck there ever since. Im beginning to feel a little concerned, but there isnt really an option to contact them because I dont speak Japanese and you have to call which is chargeable. Realistically its probably fine, I know customs just takes forever sometimes, but its got like 200 singles for my binder I’ve been super excited about plus 5 terstal festival booster boxes 
if something happens to it i will be very upset

Warm welcome to the forums @sinZEN757 . Hoping you have a lovely time on the forums. I personally think a lot of people are warming up to Japanese cards although I can imagine a lot of people just wanting to collect something that they can read and understand.
Japanese cards, especially some of the promos and modern cards are really fulfilling to collect. Beautiful and good quality. I wish you good times collecting Japanese cards.

Hello @gomiyarou, I think it is just the possibility that there might be no rarity cards in the more rarer 104-01 deck as compared to the much more common 104-0061 deck. If you have not read this thread, it provides some real good explanation.

Outbound EMS in Japan in general is severely delayed right now due to insufficient capacity (either there were not enough flights or all the planes just ran out of space to carry packages).
One other reason which is specific to Canada is that Canada Post was affected by strikes and couldn’t run in full capacity. (I’m not familiar with how deliveries work so can’t rule out the possibilities that Japan Post just prioritized other countries over Canada because Canada Post might not be able to handle them after arriving anyway.)

Ah yea thats true, its possible the strikes could still be impacting it. The package has been sitting in Toronto customs for like 16 days now. Does Canada Post handle EMS when it arrives in Canada? Thanks for the reply
