You would have “gaifu” cards

Same thing happened to me with MTG except they bought it for $900 and relisted for $2,000. Now it’s in an auction with a beginning price of $1,400 because nobody is buying it. I hope that it never sells. :smiling_imp:

I feel like if you lost an item or sat on it too long and you miss that window to buy it then it’s your fault. It’s weird to be upset with someone else who bought it and enjoys it how they please, which includes selling for more. If it really bothers you then in most cases the market will sort them out.

Selling and enjoying the hobby aren’t mutually exclusive. If someone held for 5 years and sold for more down the road vs. sold immediately for more, the only difference is time.

Too much “someone who isn’t a tr00 collector got muh GrAiL”

From a rational point of view this is true, you can do what you desire with your money and your card.
However I think it’s in the right of people to have a negative opinion about this kind of persons.

If you find an underpriced gem in a garage sale and flip it on ebay, you’re kinda providing a service, since me and others could have never seen that card.
If you buy a random slab to hold 6 months, and it does a 10x so you want to sell it, then kudos to you for being both knowledgeable, lucky and capable of taking a risk.

if you immediately relist a slab it’s clear to me that you don’t have any interest in the object, and you’re trying to squeeze every penny from this hobby, providing absolutely nothing to the society.

Lol exactly. Not sure what smoke was even talking about. Someone buying to sell immediately is not “enjoying the hobby,” it’s just someone looking to make a buck. I have zero problems with that either, and I never said anything about being mad at the buyer, but pre-2020 it was much more collectors and dealers really selling to each other now it’s a lot more dealers selling to other dealers or flippers until the music stops and someone paid way too much.

So resellers hate the hobby? Nothing wrong with making money from something you love and using your knowledge to do so

In my opinion, rational resellers who use their knowledge to make money are fine. Irrational resellers who attempt to manipulate markets are dumpster trash.

It’s less common in Pokemon, but there are a lot of Timmy resellers who attempt to manipulate MTG cards/sets through targeted buyouts (e.g., reserved list cards, foils from certain sets), and I think that behavior is deplorable. :person_shrugging:

We all buy and sell. I have nothing against making money or the person who bought this item. As I’ve said, flippers paying all time highs on an item just to immediately list it for sale at an even higher high has taken fun out of the hobby for me. You seem to have taken all of this personal for some reason

It’s not about anti-capitalism or anti-free market sentiment. It’s actually being pro-capitalism while also being able to have a negative view of distasteful or brazen practices. People are free to buy and sell whatever they want, how they want. I’m all for being enterprising, but I’m also reserving the right to an opinion of the method in which it’s carried out :man_shrugging:

It’s possible the shilling is to support other markets like mainland China and Japan.

Auctions in mainland China often match and can surpass eBay solds. It’s wild considering the young age and size of their collector base.

So 2 weeks later, it is still payment pending. How long of time frame until the sale is cancelled? There is still hope, maybe!

That’s about how long it took for me to actually get paid for a card that sold late July. I remember the payment pending status lasting around 8-10 days after payment was sent.

They have at least a month for amounts this large.

Anybody have the BGS pop data for snap cards? Their report is awful and doesn’t even displays Qwa Chansey as there.

As far as i’ve seen its 1 Bulbasuar, 1 Chansey and it says 1 Gyarados exists.

Tracking 151 carton prices on Mercari gives me headaches because a lot of sold empty carton listings have been popping up lately, be carefuly everybody

Anyone know what the actual holo error is on this CoroCoro Shining Mew is? I’m not spotting it compared to what all the other copies holos look like. Is PSA just making up an error label for something that isn’t there?

This might be incorrect, but maybe it’s because the Corocoro Mew always has a full holo across the entire card. This one looks like it’s only contained to the artwork?

It looks like it could potentially be missing the sparkle layer? Hard to tell from a flat scan. Also, what a terrible way to present errors.

Agreed with others. If it’s a correct label (which, who knows to be honest), I would guess that the sparkle layer is missing.

Edit: We are correct. Roughly 1/10th of the card has the sparkle layer (left-hand side of the card).

I see it now from the scan on the PSA website! Very odd, I guess technically it’s an error but it’s odd that PSA would recognize something like this.
