日本のマーケット部分 The Giant Japanese Market Thread

Wow, could have been some deal if landed. Here’s hoping for a next time.

Cheers!

There were not any red flags for the seller (apart from maybe the low feedback, but it did not feel like a scam), so I think the seller found out just in time that they were selling a different version. Which is good for them, but my euphoria was lying in shambles after I received the email from buyee.
Better luck next time indeed

What version is this/how is it different? I looked it up but don’t notice anything. Not too familiar with prize promos

The 2005 version closely resembles the victory rings from 2003 and 2004 in rarity and release. There are 42 of them released, with a few extra copies. An estimated amount of less than 75 exist. After 2005 the victory medals are way more common.

I had my eye on some other card from this seller, but now they’re blocked by buyee thanks to you .

First time that a seller was blocked because of me oops. But definitely not the first time a seller cancelled an order of mine…

Anyways, the seller indeed had some other nice cards and I am sorry that happened lol

Yea it seems like some of the people who got inspired by the COVID boom have delved more into the hobby and many of the eye catching Japanese cards have benefited - esp the Munch, Mario/Luigi, and Poncho collections. The PSA 10 population of these cards is definitely not low but the demand definitely seems to be there. Makes me wonder how it’s going to look a few years from now especially as more of the quality raws end up slabbed.

What do you think of the value of Amazing rares, mainly the ones from Legendary Heartbeat right now? Prices range between $30 and $60 for those in PSA 10!

I understand that there are a lot available, you got about 1 per box if I remember correctly.
But still, those are the cards you want to pull from that set and I have the feeling with all the alt art hype they are forgotten at this point in time. Give it 5-10 years for the supply to dry up and see what happens.

I’m trying to understand why the VS series packs are so expensive if the singles within the set are cheap (except umbreon).

Why is there such discrepancy?

Very cool artwork on the pack. I also am guessing there aren’t a metric ton of sealed packs still out there

I personally love the amazing rares, both english and japanese. Its hard to predict how they will do in the future. It’s possible that in 5 years, they’ll just be lost in amongst the tidal wave of different rarities and novelties that have came with the SWSH era.

I would assume the sheer scarcity could be the factor, over $1k for a single pack seems pretty expensive for such set.

Is card-rush the best storefront so-to-speak for singles?

I have such a hard time navigating their site and still cannot figure out if I can sort by condition grade, set, and what New means under a card with no condition grade.

Another option is tcg republic. Might be pricey but it’s something to compare to

PSA 10s are still pulling $100+ for non-holos, and you get 12 per pack plus the holo. Also the Trainer and TM cards are quite valuable in PSA 10 as well, as many people seem to have disregarded them when opening packs back in the day.

If you can find a seller willing to offer one at a better price to most eBay listings, the rockets tyranitar decks are good value compared with the booster packs for anyone looking to complete mint sets or grade them. The obvious downside against the booster pack is the fact that you know exactly what you’re getting, so randomisation is another factor going into the price of those boosters.

I like Cardrush a lot. Almost all of the new cards I bought (cards without a condition shown) have come back a PSA 10. Best way I have found to sort for me is by set # and then filter price from high to low. I havent bought a card with a condition stated, so not sure how accurate they are there.

Definitely scarcity and no obtainable counterpart in English.

Like you say they’re very plentiful and don’t have great fundamentals, but the pros are that most of them are great looking cards that carry a unique style that doesn’t seem to be carried forward in future sets. For these reasons there’s probably room for growth, but if I was to rub my JoshB crystal bawlz I’d wager they’d be more of a volume-buy than margin-buy if you were looking to stonk on them in the future.

VS packs also have 30 cards in each of them haha
