I noticed something similar a couple of weeks ago that VS across the board got a lot more expensive.

This is very likely old news to a lot of people here but I did not have time to follow the market very closely in the recent months so I was kind of surprised by some of the card prices. Since I am currently recovering from an injury I had some spare time and went through my collection and cards that I am still missing, in particular VS Series. I know that some cards went up like crazy (e.g. Gengar or cards by Komiya) but I did not know that almost every single card is now almost double or trip…

Furthermore, Gengar cards in general completely skyrocketed in the last 1.5 years. So Mortys Gengar is the combination of a set that went up a lot and a Pokémon which cards went up a lot. Still crazy to me when you think for how much these cards went 1 or 2 years ago.

There was also a good discussion, with @Cerulean making a good point that VS stayed stable for the longest time and with it being Japanese exclusive & the great art of the set, it is not that surprising that it got more expensive.

@Gstiess @decoypalmette Re: Japanese VS To be fair, Japanese VS sat for years with virtually no movement. Even during the 2020-21 boom, those cards barely budged. I’m not saying their price should have doubled overnight (but pretty much everything has the last six months or so), but I fully understand why they are increasing. They may be set cards, but they aren’t readily available like Base Set, they are Japanese exclusives (aside from Tyranitar Half Deck, which has VERY rare English varian…

I still think that at least for some cards those extreme price jumps are not sustainable and that there at least in for some correction in the future however I doubt as well that they will ever be as low as they were in 2023/2024.
