this is hilarious and amazing. i sometimes wonder if the eng market is just as ‘unusual’ as the jp market with the obsession of ‘waifu’ cards, or if we simply are following what the jp market determines.

That would be great. I will get the cheap male trainers from Japan and the cheap female trainers from TPCi.

I think an easy way to find this out is to do ctrl f “pokemon center opening” on all bulbapedia promo lists.

Flipper culture has taken a decent amount of the fun out of collecting for me in the last few years to be honest. Just recently I was following a comic on eBay for a while that would have been a grail for me for my collection and I start selling a lot of items to get to a point where I can buy it without anything out of pocket and then someone bought it and literally three days later it was back on eBay from the buyer at 15% markup. To me it’s just inflating prices and taking the books/cards etc out of the hands of collectors who value it more than 15% profit

That’s just so brazen, I wouldn’t have the gall to do that. You’d hope that any prospective buyers would have the savvy to look at sold listings and see exactly what he’s done. Not that it’s illegal, but it’s just so… yuck. I’d imagine a lot of people wouldn’t buy that copy out of sheer principle.
