Do you think this Umbreon has a chance for PSA 10?
There are just two issue. The black print error on Umbreon face and little bit off centered on the back.

@yamahap45, I find PSA is really picky with surface when it comes to handing out 10s. If it can be seen with the naked eye, it’ll probably make it a 9.

I agree , the back centering is pretty noticeable and the surface error can’t be a PSA 10, but most probably a nice. Beautiful card, one of the only modern arts I like

From PSA’s website: www.psacard.com/articles/articleview/117/grading-your-cards

I wouldn’t worry about back centering

Grading Standards:

GEM-MT 10: Gem Mint.
[…]The image must be centered on the card within a tolerance not to exceed approximately 55/45 to 60/40 percent on the front, and 75/25 percent on the reverse.

MINT 9: Mint.
[…]Centering must be approximately 60/40 to 65/35 or better on the front and 90/10 or better on the reverse.

Hi everyone, do you think this would get a PSA 8 if it were to be cross graded? I’ve heard that CGC are a bit more lenient when it comes to grades lower grades than 9 and if it turned out to be a 7 I wouldn’t be too happy about it. I’d really appreciate any help.

Impossible to tell from the quality of those photos, plus lack of subgrades. Don’t buy it expecting to cross.

@ragnar, maybe but the card is worse less than the grading fee.

Alright, thanks for the input. I am aware of it not being worth grading right now, I was thinking later down the line at lower pricing.

Looking to add this card to my collection:

Eventually I would send it for crossgrading to PSA as all my collection is PSA graded, chances of this card getting a 9? Looks pretty good to be honest, and as I understand, BGS is a bit more harsh on higher grades or am I wrong?

@franmotard, it really depends who you talk to. In my experience with Pokemon, BGS is all over the place in terms of consistency. Sometimes they are graded well, other times they are way off in certain categories. The 8 surface sub-grade would probably make it a PSA 8 at best, so I wouldn’t count on it becoming a 9. It might, but it wouldn’t be my expectation on a cross over. It must have print lines or other issues going on.

Hi,

I recently acquired a Shining Zard for my neo destiny master set and I thought the card had phenomenal eye appeal but upon closer inspection, I found an indent at the bottom of the card. I wanted to get it graded, but I heard PSA is super strict on these things usually. Would CGC or BGS be more forgiving?

Thanks!

@ultraluxurycardboard, CGC is definitely more forgiving. Not sure how beckett treats indents, I would assume PSA is the most strict.

Apparently it was previously graded on PSA as a 9, and the seller sent it to BGS for crossgrading.

I think I will pull the triger on this one and try luck again on PSA trying to get the previous graded 9… Ive been a longtime searching for this card to finish my nidoking WOTC era holo collection (the only art I am missing) and the price he offers me is ridiculously cheap
Ill keep you updated on what grade I get!

Worth a try then. To be fair, with PSA at times I have seen 8s becomes 9s and vice versa. You can definitely find ‘strong’ cards within a certain grade from BGS or PSA. I definitely have a few in my collection that I feel would upgrade or downgrade on a resubmission. Regardless, it seems each grader has a certain standard so no surprise if things move a grade or so at times. This is actually one of the reasons I’ve been buying more 8s than 9s these days.

I agree with you yeah, I am also buying mostly 8s recently, mostly “strong 8s” that could look like a possible 9, because for my personal collection they look as 9s, and who knows if they got sent for regrading could get a 9

What do you guys think of the upper right corner of this card? Looks pretty bad to me, worse than the 8.5 corner sub-grade. What do you think PSA would give this?

Continuing the discussion on my Shining Zard. If it didn’t have the indent at the bottom (I think it was from a card holder), it would be a PSA 7-8?

Hi all! Recently bought this beauty of a card that I will crack and send to PSA for grading and I need your expertise help!
The card overall is in super good condition, front and back surface is very good, corners are great and edges very very good too.
The only and major flaw you can see it in the first picture attached. On the bottom left front corner. How harsh is PSA with this kind of flaws? The card in general if it didn’t have this damage, it could be a strong PSA 8 at least in my opinion, but of course this brings the grade down.
What grade you think it can get at PSA?
THANK YOU!!

Crease + decently bad whitening on the back = PSA 4/5?
