I’d disagree man, I’d say there are people buying that evolutions box or ‘not selling theirs’ hoping they will rise more in the future

I meant turning a profit by opening the box and selling the singles. I’ll edit to make it clearer.By holding the box and expecting it to rise is what I meant by investing, so we agree.

Is there anyone ‘knowledgeable’ in the space who seems to think that Evolutions isn’t ‘in a bubble’? I’d be surprised but then again I was surprised to see the booster boxes go from 500 → 1K+ in such a short time.

I really wish they would of stuck to making them look realistic, like something you could actually see in the wild. Blastoise has more turrets on his back than a battleship.

I guess they went ahead and fused a battleship and Blastoise together. Honestly, I actually really like it. It’s the kind of ridiculousness that’s embodied in a lot of modern Pokemon designs. It’s flashy, it’s in your face, and I’ll be damned if the glowing eyes on the card don’t remind me of a Gundam.

I don’t why know but I can’t get into these arts. They seem corny to me but maybe I just need to warm up to it. Did you like extravagant looking modern cards right away or did you warm up to it?

Probably right away. Everyone’s different of course but I personally enjoy the ridiculous/corny aspects of them. It’s obviously very different from the Pokemon art from the WOTC era or the regular holos we have now but that’s okay. I think it’s important to have a mix of extravagant looking cards and cards that focus on more classical artwork. It’s part of the reason why I really like Cosmic Eclipse as a set and I think the upcoming Battle Styles is really good.

At first I didn’t like the e-reader series. The thicker boarder on the left side was off putting to me but now they’re some of my favorites.

Vivid voltage booster boxes are now selling on eBay for $250-275. This seems ridiculous for the newest set that is 100% going to have multiple reprint waves.

What are people thinking when they buy these?

I thought the same thing with Hidden Fates: why would anyone pay these crazy prices with a confirmed reprint coming? Then the reprints came, they were not widely available, they started out the gate at more than double MSRP & quickly rose even higher.

If this happens with Vivid Voltage, it may not even be that bad to pay 250 now. The demand for modern is so insane right now that Pokemon can’t logistically meet it even with reprints.
