The Giant eBay Garbage Thread

How long do you guys usually wait after sending a message to a seller before opening a INR? I’ve been having trouble with eBay tracking not updating past Tracking Number Provided, but several of the cards are past their estimated delivery date, so I don’t know if they actually just never dropped them off or if they are actually in transit…

I messaged a seller today, but looking at reviews it seems like he doesn’t reply and that makes me a bit nervous. Should I just wait 24 hours, or give it a couple of days? The items were originally supposed to be delivered between Feb 24-28 so it’s not super late, but I’ve been having so many more problems with sellers not delivering things lately :weary:

I think all of last year I had maybe 1 thing not show up, but from December til now it’s been at least 10 cards that I’ve had to message about or open cases for :frowning:

I usually send a message to the seller once the expected delivery date passes and I still don’t have any tracking info or updates. If they don’t respond in 2-3 days then I open a case with eBay.

I just had to do that today. The card arrived, but the tracking still shows it as “origin processing” and not even on its way.

If it is an eBay envelope item, the tracking on those is basically nonexistent nowadays. I usually just wait 2 weeks for those to arrive from when the seller marked it shipped, regardless of the eBay estimated delivery. At that point, I would just DM the seller to double check that it was mailed.

And if it is an envelope from Japan, those can take 4-6 weeks average to arrive via envelope.

I bought a single from Japan and it was tracking provided but the tracking number provided was wrong, not found / error result on the tracking website provided and eBay still didn’t say “sent to you”. A bit over a month later I was starting to think about contacting the seller or requesting a refund but then it literally just showed up in my mailbox one day so :person_shrugging:

It’s still on my eBay as tracking available but “sent to you” is still unchecked

Yeah I’ve been noticing that as well but this one was from a US seller so it shouldn’t have taken that long. I had items from China & Japan arrive before this one so I feel like it might have actually not been dropped off

Yeah I think it’s fair to think that. I would open a case with eBay if the seller doesn’t respond after 48 hrs, that’s more than enough time for a seller to respond

Best of luck with it!

I had major problems the past couple weeks with USPS. They’re just not scanning stuff and they’re running way behind. Very frustrating. My buyers were about to open INR cases when the packages magically showed up and were delivered

Got a Royal Mail insufficient postage slip. The only way to know who it’s from was to pay and open the package.

When it arrived I contacted the seller and said “hey I got charged £1.50 to receive this due to you not paying enough”.

What I thought would happen would be a “oh i’m so sorry here’s a refund of £1.50”

What I got was 20 messages detailing why royal mail was wrong, they are phoning them. Royal mail wanted sealed photos of the envelope (which I cannot give). They phoned ebay who said I was to call them for advice.

I ended up having to say “i’m going to be up front. I’m not phoning anyone over £1.50. I’d sooner just leave appropriate feedback” as well as proving that the seller was wrong. All they had done was send it as a letter instead of a large letter. Easy mistake.

Anyway after a few more indignant messages they realised they were wrong and offered to refund my entire purchase.

I declined and said just send me £1.50.

Nothing came so I waited a day and asked again. He said he had done it. A few seconds later I receive my refund.

He had refunded the entire order of someone else instead of give me anything.

Fantastic.

I can just imagine how utterly flustered that seller must have been, over £1.50. Plus, to make everything worse by involving some other fool.

Reminds me of a real war that happened over a pastry from france :sob: :sob:

Mine has been fine,. but certain areas are getting hammered.
Mind if I ask where your packages are being sorted (general area like state)? OK if too invasive. Historically, I’ve noticed more issues in the IL, SC, when receiving, and Los Angeles area when sending out…

Postage due is so annoying. 46 cents for a non machineable envelope due to a top loader. It takes so much time to knock on my door and collect the funds. No way it’s worth the post office’s time

I know the USPS hubs at Illinois and Memphis are notoriously slammed. The one at Colorado is usually bad too. It is just luck of the draw if people’s stuff avoids those hubs.

I had an item sent via eBay envelope disappear for a month from the SC hub 2 years ago too. Then it finally showed up.

Yeah, for decades, shipping providers have been using low-level algorithms to direct mail (and we all know how algorithms work perfectly every time :upside_down_face: ) so ocassionally, things are bound to foul up. When I order directly E or W along the south cost, things almost always go well. :sunglasses:

When my nicely curated specific Pokemon eBay saved searches start being flooded with random crap and I click on one to find out why and see this garbage  why can’t I block sellers

Throw in a -VMAX in the search terms

Yeah I’ve been telling myself I need to do that but there’s a lot of saved searches and I can’t find a way to edit it instead of of redoing them all so I’m just being lazy. Plus I’ve found some where they shove as many pokemon names into the character/card name in the about this item section too, will have to compare and find something to remove from all of them. There were Star Wars cards showing up one day and it’s just frustrating.
