Try a lowercase “L”, I typed it as uppercase to not confuse it was a capital i
Yeah that worked, I didn’t realise it was case sensitive! Hope this gets resolved
Appeal won
Now this is where its going to start to get really complex really fast. Here is the preamble, I bought two of this card from the scammer who clearly doesn’t have the cards. In fact, the images on the listings turn out to be the same, again, I’m an idiot, but didn’t even realize they were from the same person. listings were weeks apart, so don’t criticize me! Can you remember everything you did two weeks ago? (deflection successful).
So here is the latest…
Card 1:
I opened a return request because ebay said I couldn’t request a refund, this was on a telephone call with a nice man in India. Its annoying, I don’t know how to just get live chat on the spot anymore, I have to wait for office hours now, they don’t call me when its late at night my time. ugh. Anyhow, I’m very confused because it tells me both that the return request is closed but also that its in progress?
Card 2:
I had to wait until I was outside the estimated delivery date which was yesterday Jan 2 2025. So today Jan 3 2025, I opened a refund request due to no delivery. Almost immediately they put in some fake ups tracking number which satisfied the ebay system despite it being some nonsense number that led to ups’s website saying its not active in their database. I now have to wait until january 9 to continue to dispute this. They will either actually send something(doubtful) and it will again be some random crap, or they will just do nothing, simply delaying my refund. Since tomorrow is saturday I don’t know if I can reach anyone at ebay over this. But I don’t want to wait a whole week anymore, its clear as day I’m being scammed on two orders by the same person.
EDIT: oh the fake UPS tracking number isn’t even a valid format for UPS. I checked like the vindictive nerd I am.
Just throwing in another eBay buyer on this eBay garbage thread, though I’d say this guy is flaming hot garbage/trash: word885
Be sure to add him to your block lists, folks.
I reenabled the automatic payments on my account due to skeevy, flaky buyers such as word885. However, I guess that’s not even enough of a safeguard.
After his automatic payment kicked in, he requested a cancellation due to putting in the wrong payment information (his automatic payment was attached to his debit card rather than his credit card). Then he went on about how his wife got a notification about his payment. I thought this was already kinda sketchy, but I accommodated him, as I felt he’d just cause more problems if I shipped out his item. He seemed amenable to purchasing the item with his credit card once it was relisted, but the moment I cancelled his order, he ghosted. I know that I did this in good faith and a successful transaction depended on the honor code, but it still stings and is still quite infuriating.
Automatic payments were set up to deter people like him. There are others who make honest mistakes and still honor their purchase once you relist for them, but buyers like him will always have a story (wrong payment information, a nephew or son accidentally getting on their account and bidding, etcetera etcetera).
Sorry for the rant; I’m just quite peeved at the moment.
Remember, block word885. I wouldn’t do business with him.
A reprieve from the Norweigan drug addict saga
I forgot I did this. I do not claim to be a saint, I chose conflict. I saw a shoe boy trying to sell a Celebrations Rocket’s admin for $120, and I felt like being a little imp.
He later lowered his price to $20…
I chose not to, but I really wanted to ask him why he chose to lower his super expensive card by %84. I’d already had my fun.
EDIT: Oops I just read back my message here. I left out in the %442 thing, I should have said that he is listing it %442 higher than a graded PSA 10’s maximum price.
I didn’t like the tone of my first reply. Sorry.
I think you’re the first to post an argument you started. haha. But it’s important to recognize our own fault in things, and we can then improve.
Also, he did need an education.
Be careful folks. This sports card seller is selling this mislabeled card as glossy for $3,500. It’s not the glossy variant.
So I spent some time with an e-bay rep on the phone about both listings. I explained the situation to the rep on the two orders and I think he understood.
I was told on the second item I have to call tomorrow because in the system the scammer has 1 more day to respond even though its obviously a scam. He said that once that happens I’ll be able to get a full refund pretty easily, at least that is how he made it seem.
On the first one it was far more sticky. The first rep I talked to a week or so ago told me to contact the seller and open a return request, and because of this the seller was able to deny it and close the case. And The rep this time said because of this, it would need time to be manually looked into and worked on by some “back office” people and they’d reach out in the next 1-3 days via email. Once I explained to him that I was told to do just this he added this information to my case for them. I simply did what I was told to do, and this rep seemed to go from maybe thinking I had made a mistake to understanding someone told me to do the wrong thing. He made it seem like a refund was a foregone conclusion and that the rest from here was just a formality of the process. One can hope.
Finally, and here is the kicker, the #*%!@$ seller has the audacity to try to bait more people to give him free money. Seeing as how I have 2 reports open with this seller, I pray that the person who just spams “no issues here hur dur” doesn’t do so on this report. But you could certainly report the listing and perhaps link back to this post? I dunno how ebay’s reporting system works. I’ve had probably a %10 success rate with getting listings removed. They use the same image each time. Its absurd. Kyogre ex 001 Pokemon Card RARE (Near mint, very good condition!!!) | eBay
So that is the current situation. I’ll be back with a report on the second purchase and maybe even the first purchase as well.
they ended the sale after you posted
I hope it’s not because someone offered to buy it off platform…
Ideally, they didn’t know, saw your post and took it down
I’m sorry this is happening to you. It can be so frustrating dealing with EBay CS by phone. The one time I needed to call I could barely find the phone number online.
Anyway, I’m not sure if it’s been mentioned here before but personally I had a much smoother time dealing with them through Facebook Messenger.
For a shortcut, what has worked for me is going to the help page and using the “get assistance” or whatever button to speak to the bot. If you type “agent” they’ll give you an option to get a call, usually pretty darn quick. I’ve spoken to them numerous times and yeah, they do the typical customer service nonsense stuff but they certainly aren’t the worst customer service I’ve experienced.
On another topic…
How do you guys feel about listings with wrong info in fields? Pokemon cards do not, for instance, have a MTG Color/Attribute afaik. Not like it ‘grinds my gears’ or anything, but I’m curious what the general sentiment is.
For one thing, I feel its backwards that ebay tells you in the listing tool that certain fields have ‘x million searches’. Feels like a good reason to list half-truths. I’ve only reported one or two that were obvious search manipulation(no name grading company listed as PSA) and got a canned response saying “nono its all good they’re totalllly fine”. I was actually buying and just genuinely annoyed that they were making it hard for me to filter stuff.
Do you even care? If I were selling the same item as someone else and they had a listing full of fake info I wouldn’t be surprised if theirs sells first or showed up more often in searches.
Otoh, I inquired about a listing with an AI description claiming it had a coveted rookie card guaranteed. The rep I spoke to said I could buy the box, rip the whole thing, and if the card wasnt there, return it(I didn’t cuz I’m not… well, that much of a spiteful jerk). So yeah, its lister beware, but that doesn’t help much with false info in competition. Just curious what the overall opinion or sentiment is. Does it matter?
ebay’s automatic response to clearly fake cards is the same, reporting does nothing.
The report button is just a placebo button.
heh, certainly seems that way
the one time I got something removed I had to go around the system - it wouldn’t let me submit with the word counterfit in it. So I put spaces btwn each letter and they actually acted on it despite me breaking the rules. What a weird site.
i should be more clear: Im more referring to people filling every listing field with either a plausible but not really true thing or just outright lying to gain search results, not explicitly fake cards. ex: “autograph type - not signed” “convention/event - some random pokemon event”, stamped when its not, wrong level of rarity. Biggest pet peeve: I select english and its all still Chinese and Korean and Japanese cards. I love em, but cmon.
oh trust me that too drives me up the WALL! I often do broad searches by set. So “pokemon legend maker”. And then someone will have in those meta data tag things “legend maker” for all of the cards they list for the day, so its just a bunch of random crud from other sets. It makes searching difficult. I wish it were enforced better. And I often see they will fill the graded card levels as higher than what the card is, I think as you were trying to get at. So the meta data tag will say “PSA 10” and its like a cgc 9 card. I don’t see how there is no structure to punish people for this.
