I really like that Jirachi. I wish more of them had great backgrounds like Jirachi, Eevee, and Greninja. The generic backgrounds on the starters and a few others do nothing for me.

maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but I liked more the amazing rares than this radiant cards. Specially our western versions, japanese versions at least have some cool textures and holo patterns that makes then look good. Im not talking about the pokemon selection, just the design of the type of cards!

100% agreed. I like the finish on the mon, but the overall look of the card and theme of the amazing rares is better. Reminds me a bit of Ancient Mew, which is a true homerun.

The result of ongoing experimentation with new types of rarity

My guess is they shifted to Sparkling/Radiant Pokémon because their texture format is simple [and thus easier] to print across several sets than Amazing Rare’s glitter/textures that are unique to each Pokémon

Its crazy how much of a flash in the pan amazing rares were, I liked them. The subtle texture and color exceeding the border. I prefer them over Hyper Rares. At least they are a nice and easy 9 card binder page to complete! :sunglasses:

Love the style of art here. Really reminds me of the massive amounts of knockoff merchandise that flooded the boardwalk shops in the summer.

Bruh! Did you just compare Keiko Fukuyama to knock off pokemon art?!

I dig it. Fukuyama is like Picasso pre-depression and Komiya is like Picasso post-depression.

I always thought of Komiya as more, Monet, post blindness.

Lots of color, that doesn’t belong anywhere near that scene, but amazingly, works brilliantly.

I never understood why Pokémon Company didnt create sets based on the spin-off games (first time was actually Arceus this year, not counting the promos for Dark Lugia or Mystery Dungeon) but… how amazing would it be to have a set with this art style?
