Did you win any? They all sold super cheap imo.
Haha for those who think psa 10s can’t have scratches!
I wonder how many cards have “old” and “new” cert and were printed at the factory on the same day in 1998, on the same sheet, just laughing at us right now.
Went less than I thought. When I messaged the owner back in Feb he was asking 34k. Told him absolutely not lol. Thought it could hit 25k tho. Whoever bought it I’m sure is going to keep it locked up for a long time
Why do you think it got a 10 despite two vertical scratches on the holo?
Unfortunately, i did not lol. I somehow messed up my Gixen snipe on the Dark Gyarados holo and i was going after one of the base hitmonchans. I wasnt expecting the base hitmonchans to go for over $1,000 tbh.
I also missed out on the 1st edition Pidgeotto that was mislabeled as German.
Every PSA 10, for the most part, probably has some form of holo scratching. Not every 10, but a 10 doesn’t mean the card is flawless. Centering looks spot on and it’s probably near flawless in other areas.
I wish a dark Dragonite PSA 10 unlimited would pop up and I can snag it for as low as those holos did. I bet the guy was a little mad at what everything sold for
Could be the 2xxx certs leading to some of the lower sales. Also, the market for them isn’t terribly strong at the moment it seems. I own alot of the PSA 10s that sold in that block and I wouldn’t sell at those prices. You just can’t go out, buy raw, and grade 10s with any sort of consistency anymore.
Gone are the days of buying raw vintage on eBay and trying to get a 10. Only real option to achieve that now is to find a 9 that’s clean and try and crack it. I’ve done that in the past and only time it’s usually regraded to a 10 is if I submit in the higher tier level. Idk if that has anything to do with it but I’ve noticed that and I’ve only done it twice with it successfully getting a 10
Interesting, I didn’t know that. I haven’t had the chance to see many vintage holos in 10s and really put them under a light at certain angles. So 9s and 10s of older cards possibly have some sort of holo scratching?
The guy who won the Black Star Venusaur yesterday should crack it and put it in his binder collection.
It would lose 99% of its value.
I know
and win I win the Powerball, I’m going to buy the other 6 legit 10s and the one miss grade and then crack all but one of the them. That way I have my dream of owning the entire market of them in PSA 10. I shall be crowned king of the Venusaur ![]()

Mad lad energy
The biggest hurdle isn’t having enough money to buy them all, it’s convincing all of the current owners to sell.
If you had one and I offered you 40k would you sell?
PSA 10 is ‘virtually perfect’ and I think with a card like this where it’s known to have surface indents on so many that were produced, having a couple of minor flaws on the holo gave it a ‘pass’ because everything else is good (corners, edges, centering, etc). I own a Mesaki Gengar and honestly the holo is so dark it’s really hard to notice any flaws on it. The scan brightens things up a lot and so it’s going to show more than what you’d see under most lighting conditions as well. So PSA probably thought it met the requirements for ‘eye appeal’ when giving it a 10, despite the minor flaws present.
Yes, but I’m the wrong person to ask. I don’t think the card should be worth so much to begin with. I will take your $40k gladly.
