Very sorry to say that Rusty will be closing down his store January 31st, 2018.
All the reports and feedback indicated his customers loved the place and were treated well. Even parents were happy with the treatment of their children. It has been a very professional, well run operation.
Fortunately, Rusty will be devoting his time to making his eBay store even better with a dedicated focus on his first love, Pokemon. Be sure to support him during this transition by checking out his eBay store:)
So I am guessing he can add himself to the unfortunate long list of people who couldn’t transfer online success to brick and mortar?
Such a shame for that community to lose a shop. A local card shop can be a wonderful place for people to make new friends and become part of a community.
Maybe just more work and time away from the family than he wanted.
A better reason that most for making a decision.

Very possible.
My plan to open a store got shot down for the 2nd time last week by commission (for new shops and business in city center) at city hall for being to risky. A few months earlier the bank wasn’t jumping with joy because no prior success online. Seems a lot of smaller and bigger shopping centers want stores like this because it creates activity and traffic to the shopping area but no aid or whatsoever to keep the store going for the long run.
People think running a card shop is easy and fun… it is anything but.
I know the owner of my local card shop and it is insane how much effort he puts into the place. He deals mainly in Magic and Yugioh but also has some Pokemon stuff. He is in his store about 70 hours a week and when he is off he is constantly looking for ways to improve his shop, the inventory, and the traffic. All-consuming would be an understatement.

Any small business owner puts in 70-80hrs a week into his shop, not just the LGS.
I’ve worked in many shops where the owners was absent for 2 days a week and it resulted in the shop going downhill fast and the owner no clue what went wrong and how to fix it.
