Hey! So I’m a Dragonite collector close to finishing off all the main tcg cards and many of the non tcg. I wanted to put this all together in someway and feel kinda stuck. Like I have many of my Dragonites in high grade slabs which I obv won’t crack to put in a binder, but I also don’t want an empty space in my binder. Does anyone have any cool ideas of how to put a “filler” card in that spot to signify that I do own it but it’s in a slab?
open to any other comments from species collectors on how rhey store and display their collections.
Personally I would just crack it, but understand why you wouldnt want to. What about saving for another one in slightly worse condition for the binder, or even a proxy filler?
I personally had a similar case with my own (Pikachu) collection. Not just with slabs, but also some cards I have sealed and don’t want to take out of their seal; and some very rare cards I prefer to keep in my toploader binder instead of my regular binder.
I still have to finish and print them, but I plan on printing colored placeholders of photos/scans of all those graded, sealed, and toploader cards I own, to put in my regular binder.
And I also plan to make greyscale placeholder for the few cards I’m still missing.
Honestly i probably wouldn’t be fully satisfied if i didn’t have all the cards in the binder so i most likely would buy second copies in case cracking wouldn’t be an option, i do have some slabs in my display but all of them i also have as binder copies, ofc the amount of my slabs is probably a tiny amount of yours but nevertheless
Take a picture of the slab and print it out card size. Gives you more of a feeling of ownership/ completion than a proxy. I did something similar for my Black & White binder. Sorry for bad pic but you can see I photographed my shielded victory cups and “put them” in the binder
Love this! My wife is working on a deal for a graded Pre-Release Jungle Clefable for her master set, but buying a double just for the binder doesn’t seem feasible (or as fun as getting other cards she doesn’t have at all).
Of course I’ve seen printed proxies, but the idea of taking a picture of the whole slab or shield is appealing - it’s not just a copy of the card, but your card.
