Species collecting app

Hi all,

As you might know I’m a Lapras collector. And as a species collecter I always had the problem that I could not find a one app solution to collect as a species collecter. So with the help of AI I created one for myself, it’s a simple web app that lets you track each language variation of a card.

It’s a hobby project and initialy just built for myself. But maybe it could help other Species collectors aswel. So if you wanted to help try it out and provide me with feedback, it could end up being a better app for both of us.

Preferably someone who collects a Pokemon with a smaller card set. As a big part of adding the cards to the database is by hand.

I added some pictures to give an idea.

Thanks!

Two small things I noticed: 1) I’d rather use the flag of Taiwan for Traditional Chinese to also have a clear visual separation and 2) Latin American Spanish seems to be missing, which Lapras already exists in in Destined Rivals. Another suggestion would be to maybe include a separate section or option for cameos since some people collect them and some do not.

Thanks for the feedback will look into it. And that is indeed how I want to handle cameo cards in the future.

Cool project! But I will always be spreadsheet and research first. I don’t trust there to ever be a complete resource. Many people have started and never finished something like this, it always remains incomplete :frowning:

I love the execution! This level of detail is much more significant to species collectors compared to apps like Dex. The metrics, numbers are the best part. It combines the data calculations of a spreadsheet with the customization/design of app programs. Additionally, I use my phone to track my collection much more frequently than my desktop. I always found myself putting off updating my spreadsheets when I used excel.

Custom banner or thumbnail images would allow a user to add personality to their lists. I know that’s pretty popular with species collectors on e4. Perhaps more of the app’s design could focus on one species. Which leads to my last point,

I see you’ve gone with breaking up variants by language instead of by artwork, I’ve done the same for my Eevee lists but I’ve been debating which format to use for the longest time. Having both would be a game changer.

Good luck mate, it seems a pretty good start. Hope there’s a bit of positive feedback to help in its development. .

Let’s go! This is definitely something that would help streamline my Metapod search, it honestly gets a bit confusing when trying to work out if I have a card or not with some of them, and something like this as an app would help keep track of all the different variants of cards without having to physically examine every card to make sure I don’t have it.. :ok_hand:
