Today I took the first steps towards owning a Southern Islands collection! I wanted this as soon as it was announced, about 23 years ago. Today I went into a trading card shop and found all the cards for sale at prices that made my eye water.
I told the guy that I would love to have it someday but I really wanted a complete one. So he pulled out the binder that he took the cards from. It has the sleeve, the folder, the post cards… I had to have it! I expected a price over £60 but when he offered £30 I was blown away. I purchased it immediately!
Over time I hope to fill it, and eventually complete it!
Great pick up! Southern islands has some great art work if you like the Japanese ones I’d recommend getting those too! They aren’t expensive and their holo looks good.
Definitely the best mini-set out there! I wish TPC/TPCi would release 18-card or 9-card sets like this to commemorate certain in-game or anime-related locations/cities/regions.
I would prefer one or two mini-sets per year rather than yet another modern set with hundreds of cards.
This binder was my first online purchase when I started collecting again way back in 2007! It’s such a unique fun release. I’ve looked at that binder more than all my rare cards combined. Congrats on the pickup!
Thanks, i’m really happy to have it! I never thought i’d ever get a binder with the sleeve still in one piece! I have already purchased my first card, and i’m considering an offer on another.
Just wanted to update everyone that as of last week, I have completed the set! It took me a little while, but I got the last card I needed (Tentacruel) and after all these years, it’s finally mine!
It isn’t perfect, it won’t be graded, but my god its MINE!
Love this set - and £30 for the binder, box and postcards is a steal! Such a nice set, and definitely underpriced IMO. I’ve got about half the cards and am slowly picking up what I’m missing.
The store had taken all of the cards out of the binder, sent them for grading, and were selling them at a ridiculous price. I guess they didn’t see the financial value in the binder. Thankfully, I saw the value in it, that I could finally obtain this set!
