Binder #2 has been painted! :artist_palette: :paintbrush:

I guess the Valentine’s Day love was in the air, and I wanted to capture the symbiotic relationship between Slowbro and Shellder :pink_heart:

Painting time!

Binder #2 of the All-Language Slow Master Set has always had a Slowbro on it. I thought it made sense to continue the evolution chain in the illustrations. This is what it looked like earlier today, with my initial white paint pen doodle on the cover:

I sketched out the Slowbro on the cover and laid down an initial coat of paint.

And then another layer (or two or three)

And finally, the outlines!

Ta-da!

I am pretty happy with how this came out, and I really enjoy seeing it next to Binder #1 from yesterday’s painting adventure. Stay tuned for Binder #3… astute readers may be able to guess which Pokemon will be depicted :crown:

Update: Finished painting all 4 binders!

I didn’t originally intend for this to be a long weekend project, but I wound up painting one binder each day for the past four days. I guess I was just having a lot of fun

As I mentioned above, these four 3x4 binders contain my Slow all-language Master Set in chronological order.

Binder #3: Slowking :crown:

For the third binder, I painted the king himself. Many of my favorite Slowking depictions have him levitating a King’s Rock, so I decided to do that here as well.

Here’s a pre-outline photo:

And here’s what my desk has looked like pretty much all weekend…

Binder #4: Mega Slowbro :spiral_shell:

Binder #3 ends with Prismatic Evolutions, which means the very first cards in Binder #4 will be the Slowpoke & Mega Slowbro gym promos that just released. For that reason, I thought it was fitting to paint a Mega Slowbro on the cover of this one.

And here’s a progress photo:

All done with binder painting for now! :artist_palette:

That’s a wrap on the most productive art weekend I’ve had in months. It was a lot of fun, and definitely makes me want to draw and paint more.

Fortunately since I’m just starting binder 4, I probably won’t need to add another binder for several more years. But when the time comes, there’s always the Galarian Versions

Here’s one last pic of the whole set, Fossil Slowpoke for scale

Nice! The Mega Slowbro turned out great as well. Love seeing them all four together like that.
And I agree with @Dyl, sometimes i wish I was this talented when it comes to art.

Out of curiosity: do you have a plan on displaying them somehow, since it would be a shame to just put them back on the shelves, only showcasing the unpainted sides of the binder the majority of the time. On the other hand, pulling them out and looking at your cover artworks only from time to time does make it extra special, kinda like the feeling when browsing through a binder full of cards from time to time, I guess.

@crindy thanks so much for following along, I love your binder art as well!

@Quuador Thanks so much, it’s really fun to see the set all finished  I’d love more display space for my Slow collection, but currently I’m pretty space-limited in my apartment. So for now, they’ll live on the same shelf as before. I think you’re spot on with the joy of seeing them infrequently as opposed to having them always visible, similar to the experience of browsing through the collection inside. But maybe one day when I have more space and upgrade my Slow display, I’ll be able to showcase them better

Really gorgeous! Stellar work in painting your binders. These are really well done. I like the brighter color of the slow line and it goes very well with the binder colour. Mega Slowbro is definitely my favorite. Thanks a lot for showcasing and sharing these.

Cheers!

A mishmash of various updates today, many of which are thanks to some wonderful E4 community members!

100% Indonesian - Last card arrived :indonesia:

I’m officially caught up with Indonesian cards, at least until the new Slowpoke & Mega Slowbro gym promos likely release

The only card I was missing in Indonesian was this Galarian Slowking V alt art. A couple of sellers quoted me outrageously high prices for this card, so I decided to bide my time until a better opportunity arose. Thankfully @cryingatnight set up an Indonesian order and I was able to find this card on Tokopedia and slide it into the order. Thanks for the help Eric!

Swiss-exclusive German McDonald’s :switzerland: :germany:

I did not know this, but apparently the 2018 International McDonald’s set was not released in Germany. It turns out the German cards from that set were only released in Switzerland. I learned this because I was ordering some cards on CardMarket, and I couldn’t find the German one for this anywhere, whereas the other languages were pretty readily available.

I was able to find a listing on a Swiss website called Ricardo, and the wonderful @WailordEnthusiast provided an assist for getting the card to me in the United States. Thank you very much for the help

New Japanese Gym Promos :pink_heart:

Finally, we got some love for Mega Slowbro! I’m super happy to have gotten these promos from Japan, the new Slowpoke art is just fantastic. The new Mega Slowbro looks really cool in person with the wiggly blob texture. Excited for more languages soon

Amazing shipment from Orannge :tangerine:

I was fortunate to participate in Orannge’s trade thread. He sent so much awesome stuff it made my head spin. I think my favorite was the Sealdass ghost-type sticker that I’ve been idly wanting for a while, but there’s lots of other great non-tcg stuff here as well. He even included a Pokemon Channel video game with Slowpoke on the cover, which is just too cool! Thank you very much @orannge

Korean Shipment

Got a delivery today with 6 Korean cards, a small but very important addition to my collection! This order contained three of my remaining Korean reverse holos, which have been a bit tricky to track down.

I’m now at 96.97% for Korean, and 88.52% overall
