Hey Y’all The wifey and I are trying to collect all the slows, we bought this guy off of whatnot, the seller inspected this compared it to the unlimited, said that the 1st edition is double holo. Which got the wifey excited, he didn’t know what to charge but upped it from 175 then to 275. What do you mean by ‘double holo’? That Slowking is a great card! Errors can be specific to certain sets, and some can also be faked, so it’s worth investigating how each individual error works when you see one. A Slow-specific example: on eBay sometimes people will list the Fossil Slowpoke for very high prices because of the “Illustrator Error”, but that error is present on _every_ Fossil Slowpoke (Miki Tanaka’s name was spelled Miki Takano). In general, if you are looking to price things out I recommend checking eBay sold listings – it’ll show you the price the card sold for, which gives a nice and accurate real-time market price. Card condition plays a huge factor here as well, so more damaged cards will sell for less. There are also websites like TCGPlayer and PriceCharting that you can check. ---

Cards aside, Double holo is one of the worst misnomers perpetuated by CGC and PSA. The holo is the same, just a difference in masking from how much light passes through the white ink layer. ---

I’m still trying to understand how or why rather PSA decided to recognize “double holo error” as the accepted term when, as you say, the holo has bled through and can be seen in parts of the card it was not intended to. Sometimes it seems the card can or does have a double holo layer, but also with the Neo Shining Garyados it’s somewhat common to pick up a holo bleed coming through other parts of the card like the yellow border or blue half of the card below the image box. ---

I think the appearance of extra shininess is the cause of such name, but why the companies went with this name I’ll never know. CGC at least put quotations around “double” but it’s still not enough. This is cool! The TCG Classic 3 deck box set has this type of “doubled” holo error. ![518886_in_1000x1000](https://efour.b-cdn.net/uploads/default/original/3X/6/5/659f2c1565d51aec067ef57c5088901561a385ae.jpeg) It’s not on the whole holo, just sections, and it can be any part of the card since holo bleed is also common in this set. The duplicated foil creates repeating “waves” in the digital holo that make the holo appear thicker in the affected area, overlapping stars (not to be confused with partially muted stars), and stars that mirror each other. The 1999-2000 Australian version has the correct “Tanaka”! You posted about that lot on eBay last month and I was able to pick one up so thank you!! @alphabeat still a really lovely card! Can’t go wrong with first edition! 🙂 ---

There is no such thing as a “double holo” Neo Genesis card. You were fleeced by a WhatNot seller.
