I really like signed cards but have no idea what something like this would go for?
Poor condition Shadowless Charizard with a small crease on the card.

@beaver, for that card in particular it has been sold at a best offer on ebay for $370 USD.
Typically signed cards have lots of variables in place, which affects the value:
- How well the artist signed it (quality)
- If the artist did anything extra (sketches)
- Is it relevant to the artist?
- Condition of the card (grade)
- Normal value of the card
- Popularity of the card
In normal scenarios, the more valuable the card, the less the parameters of the artist would be relevant, and in fact if it’s too high the card’s value would actually drop. On the other hand, if the card is not that valuable, the parameters of the artist is more relevant and it would be more tied to the artist.
The card in question is in my opinion, a good sweet spot because the card would be in poor condition and typically much harder to sell, but it is a popular and noteworthy card. Furthermore, with the card being signed and authenticated, the card’s value/ease of sale is increased, because a damaged card now has the backing of the artist to make it more valuable. Unfortunately the signature is the most plain arita signature around, so overall, the card’s value was bumped up significantly by being signed and authenticated.
Thanks a lot for your input! Just so hard to know what a fair price is on something like this.
It’s a bit of a shame to get such a beat up card signed. I would buy something like this in a heartbeat if it were anywhere close to NM.
I would not pay more than $200, but several collectors probably would… So that $370 value is kind of accurate I guess.
No problem!
More parameters add complexity to the price of the card, and signature cards make it much more tricky to judge for pricing. Typically if you live in the States/Japan, the best value would be to get the card you want signed yourself!
@poken00b88, sadly a NM signed arita shadowless charizard would fetch probably double if not triple/quadruple the price, depending on market conditions
Yeah of course. I would definitely pay $500-1000 depending on condition.
