Curious what set this is? Very cool!
Just pulled this krabby out of some bulk, super excited. Cant find much info about it if anybody has any more would love to learn.

Super relevant to the card, looks like either a ray of sunshine that Krabby is shielding his eyes from, or simply Krabby’s claws have slashed through the card!

These are sequential so I’d guess the same grader. Wish they made it make sense. The one after is a Alakazam OC no qualifier

Recently picked up a W Stamped “Red Ink Overspray” Wartortle that looks like a red rain in the background! You can see the red ink in the blue portions of wartortle’s body as well as red/pink blushes on the lower areas of the card. Furthermore, there are two perfectly parallel indents lines on the back of the card which makes me wonder how that may have contributed or been from the same issues that made it an error in the first place. Anyone else come across something like this?

Its finally back at my middleman after grading. Grading took nearly a year so im relieved they recognised the two square cut cornes on the left side

Here’s a fun pair of sequential neighboring miscuts I got. Just fun to look at, and a nice addition for ticking off the error list chases for my pc! I won’t know if they are real or NFC until I get CGC to grade them, but still pretty cool to me! Any input would be appreciated!

Another fun raw card I got on eBay, and it appears to be genuine from every way I know how to check. I don’t know anyone who could fake a metallic-orange line of text - nor why they would… For $10, though it was the right price : ) This is the best I could do for a pic at the moment. It’s an Empoleon 037/172 from Brilliant Stars. It’s missing print layers, and does have the registration circle - pretty small, and in the bottom left quarter. I will send it in to CGC, but I’ve not seen a missing layer error this severe. I’m betting it grades a 3 or possibly 4 with CGC… or less! I’m more wanting to authenticate it officially and have it in the CGC database than anything, in case it is a rare error. Any thoughts? Have you seen anything like this? Any input would be appreciated.

Unfortunately this is a fake error. Someone used Acetone or a similar chemicals to remove some of the printing from the card. This is not real

Would that still leave the text on there? I’ve seen acetoned cards, but never one like this.
They were just lighter with the chemicals in that area. Enough to remove what was around the text and lightly fade the text. Not enough to fully remove the text. Similar reason why you can see where the border once was.

Good to know, and thank so much! I do have a “full star layer-square cut” CGC-labeled filler card coming that’s CGC slabbed and labeled as such. That one looks like most of those I have seen as acetoned - I thought it was a bit funny to get something that looks altered but wasn’t. I have a weird sense of humor in ways… I find the foil-faced cards to be pretty interesting, but generally not interesting to look at. I picked up the star-layer one because I thought the stars looked nice. I’m much more into aesthetics than what the silver cards have to me, but I’m happy to have that type in the collection. Especially since that one is definitely real : )
So the Star Layer Filler Cards are interesting and confuse a lot of people that aren’t familar with the printing process because they follow different rules compared to most holo patterns.
Most holo cards, the pattern is a part of the holo. So when it is chemically altered, it leaves only the holo and the pattern. The Star Layer is exact that, a layer of stars separate from the rest of the layers. It’s not part of the holo like most patterns are. furthermore the star layer is on top of the ink and the other layers of the card.
There is no way to alter a card to look like a star layer filler card. That would require removing the ink under the stars without removing the star layer. It’s just not possible. Altering the card removes the stars.

Yep - that’s why they are only authenticated, because there’s really nothing to grade. At least that’s my understanding…
I’m not seeing acetone streaking on the raw card, though - and while I have checked with a loupe, I moved on to checking again using a microscope that’s set up to examine jewelry. I would have expected to see streaking, at least on or around the text. I just posted this much-better pic I just took at the top for the general discussion, as well as here.
I did see a bit of bubbling on the foil - I don’t know if that’s also a sign of acetone, but I’ll check!
