Show Off Your Error Cards Megathread!

Actually I’ve seen a case of this before. Though I think it was vstar universe with a pokeball pattern. So if this happened across two sets I have to believe its on purpose somehow. But I don’t know. I tried to aquire the cards in question but failed as the person was in korea and a friend of the poster who said the friend wanted to keep them. I might be able to see if I still have the pics somewhere. Most people don’t care about non english outside japanese, so we don’t really understand what is intentional or not. So its hard to say.

Very cool errors! The prerelease Ivysaur is obviously awesome, but I love the EX era miscuts too, especially the foreign-language Energy Removal 2!

I don’t know about the shifted stamp on the Rocket Voltorb, but I think the Team Rocket set overall had a higher probability of smudged stamps, so nothing too weird about the Boss’s Way, I think. I don’t have many 1st edition Rocket cards, but I remember seeing like one or two smudged stamps even amongst my low number of cards. The Voltorb also looks fine to me, but maybe someone else can speak to it.

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks a lot!! I really appreciate it!

I did some more searching here and I keep coming back to Quuador’s stamp variation article, as I did when I first received the cards. There are some awesome examples of smudged 1ED Rocket, I was just fearful of a thermal printed/Etsy-style self inking/UV ink stamp attempt gone awry.

I do think that if stamps were so frequently smudged in that set, it’d maybe be possible to have some stamps end up as misplaced while still being “struck” properly and with proper dry time. I do know that wet stamps were an issue during packaging, though more so in earlier sets. I’m continuing to search here and there for any other examples.

On the EX era point, I’d like to find a Croconaw from Dragon Frontiers with the same border proportions, it’d be cool to have the 3 stage 1 Johto starters from (what I think would be) the same sheet.

My Poliwhirl from unseen forces. As you know, reverse cards are stamped with a pokeball holo pattern, this card was misprinted onto a cosmos holo sheet instead with the unseen forces stamp.

Amazing Prerelease Ivysaur. Maybe a daft question but did you intentionally buy this, or find it in a bulk lot by chance or something?

Thank you!! Not daft at all, I met someone in the DMV area (U.S.A.) in 2024 and they had it for like $100 Canadian after conversion. I tried searching for them here, no avail. They sold me all of my EX Era miscuts + Mimikyu as well as some Italian EX Era and graded Magma VS Aqua: Two Ambitions that I cracked.

That’s so cool!! I knew I had seen that elsewhere:

I’m sure you know about this thread but it seems like there was one sheet (?) that left the facility. Congrats on an awesome find!!

There’s a picture on E4 of an Unseen Forces Porygon reverse in Spanish with upside-down Pokéballs as well, haha!

I know Omanite from time ago but didnt know about this post haha.

Yes Im friends with the owners of the other cards, we have assumed there was a full sheet printed in spanish with cosmos foils. So far we have found the Murkrow and Yanma as he said, the poliwhirl, and also a Lugia and a Flareon have been seen. I would like to find an uncut sheet in any language to see what other cards we can expect to exist, but so far I havent found one.

The reverse pokeballs are SO common, I have 98% of the spanish unseen forces master set and have several reverse pokeballs.

A full uncut sheet would be really cool to see, I always wondered if they printed the rares with gold foil text on the same sheet as everything else so I’d love to know for certain! I guess they do that for regular holofoils in Gold Star sets though, which we do know.

Again, awesome find, error cards like these cosmos UF reverses are truly one-offs! Upside-down Pokéballs are always fun to see in the wild, surprised other sets with set-specific patterns didn’t see those kinds of mistakes, congrats on being so close to finishing the set too!! Huge accomplishment!

A little ink error Mew

Looks like additional ink from the scan, but more like missing ink when it catches the light in person.

Hey, nice Arbok! I found a similar Arbok in a binder at a card show during April last year! It was in a binder with lots of vintage holos. I noticed it right away when paging through because of the sparkle directly above Arbok’s eye. Got it for $15

I previously posted this Horsea with insufficient cyan ink. It is one of two cards from all of WotC that I was aware of with this error. The other card is a Marill from Neo Gen. The other day, I was sold a third example, again from a different set. How weird is it that three different sheets from three different sets were affected, and yet we haven’t seen any of the other cards from the sheets?

Not sure if this qualifies, but I’d love to hear opinions on it. I bought a sealed pack of these code cards off ebay and this one was blank. Does it have any value, I always thought it was a cool find

It’s a common error, you can search last solds on ebay and see what they go for

Got this from the admin of the popular Misprint group on FB, nice and smooth transaction in the US to my COMC mailbox, then had to wait 4-5 months to finally have it in my hands.

I’m not a fan of Evo but I like the combo of error+this kind of reverse foil.
