Nice to meet all of you. After seeing everyone’s awesome collection thread, I have decided to create my own Collection Vault thread as well. This thread would act like some sort of a journal for my small collection of cards. Just some background of my collection quirks:
I collect both older and modern cards. However, given the recent price hike for older cards, I am leaning more to acquiring modern cards at the moment.
My collection is mainly stored in Ultra Pro binders or toploaders. I have very few cards in PSA slabs (probably only some gold stars/shinings/crystals). Being that I am based outside the US, it is quite difficult (at least for me) to get cards graded. Also, I love to flip through my binders and physically touch my cards occasionally
For older sets, I try to collect them in English and Japanese. For modern cards, I collect across the various languages available, but the main bulk of my modern collection at the moment is English and the Asian languages (Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Indonesian and Thai). The other languages (German, French, Italian, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese) are a bit difficult for me to track down due to geographical and cost barrier.

The Base Set is by far the most popular set among collectors. My collection is just a simple one with no graded cards and given the surge in price, I don’t think I can afford them anyway. For me, the English set represents a piece of my childhood nostalgia. I remembered there was a lot of buzz among my schoolmates in the late 90s/early 2000s about these fancy Pokemon cards and the cool, wealthier kids bringing them to school.
From a nostalgia standpoint, I have a special affinity to two particular cards:
Blastoise
I remembered owning a Blastoise card during my childhood and it was one of my treasured card. Being an idiot, I traded this card with my friend for a 1st ed. Machamp because somehow 1st ed. Machamp is “rarer”. Looking back as an adult, that was pretty dumb of me, lol.
Unfortunately, I misplaced the Machamp (and I don’t think my friend has that Blastoise anymore as he no longer actively collects cards). This memory has always been at the back of my mind and when I got back into Pokemon in early 2017, this card is one of my priority.
Zapdos
Zapdos is also one of the cards I have during childhood. Fortunately for me, I still have it at my parent’s place, albeit it is in heavy play condition as I was not aware of sleeves in the past. As a kid, I always feel pretty cool owning this card as it’s damage output is one of the highest at that time The card in the picture is a copy that I bought after I got back into Pokemon.
I do have to say in terms of art, I love the Gyarados art. It exudes a certain cool factor for me.

This is quite a fun and budget friendly mini set to collect. I remember opening two Korean booster boxes and managed to get almost all set cards except for 1-3 cards. The second box was opened purely because I thought the Detective Yoshida card was in the Korean release but it was not.
For the promo cards, probably the most difficult card for me to acquire is the Korean Detective Pikachu (143/SM-P) card. It was given out in a sealed pack during the release of Detective Pikachu movie in Korean cinema.

Hi @shadowcardcollector, welcome to the Efour forum. Good to see you here as well. And great collection thread thus far. I like the Korean Detective cards especially. Isn’t there also a Jumbo version of the Mewtwo and Charizard in Korean? Or you only focus on regular-sized cards?
And I agree with 143/SM-P being the hardest to get Detective Pikachu promo for the Korean ones. So thanks again for helping me out with it a few months back on reddit.
Hello, nice talking to you for the first time here, @quuador ! I do have the Jumbo Mewtwo GX and Jumbo Charizard GX but I kept it in a separate Jumbo cards A4 folder. For completeness, I also have (at least) one sealed booster box, the sealed Jumbo Charizard GX and Jumbo Mewtwo GX but I can’t access it due to recent world situation

Chinese Single Strike Master and Rapid Strike Master
Firstly, the Chinese Single Strike Master and Rapid Strike Master was released on 29 January 2021, and I managed to purchase and collect them today! Pretty cool fact that the Chinese set is released one week after the Japanese set, when it was the last language to be introduced (after Thai and Indonesian) in the Sun & Moon block.

Thai Shiny VMAX CollectionOne of my more anticipated set (besides the English Shining Fates) is the Thai Shiny VMAX Collection since I’m planning to open 1 - 2 booster boxes This set was supposed to be released on Christmas but was pushed back to 29 January 2021 and it finally arrived today! In my opinion, this collection is probably the second nicest S&M era cards in terms of art. It’s great that the size of this collection is quite small (~10-13 cards). The English set is the last one that I purchased. I wanted to wait for the price to settle down after rotation but after seeing the Pikachu increase in price, I pulled the trigger and bought the English set last month.
I think all the card arts are great, but if I have to choose only one, probably the Gallade is my favourite I love cards that display friendship between Pokemon and humans (ie. the Charmander/Charmeleon/Charizard from Radiant Collection), and this card have a similar vibe.
P/s: Please let me know if I’m missing any CHR cards from these 6 languages.
Also, I’m not actively collecting the Spanish, Italian, German, French and Brazilian Portuguese cards due to cost But if anyone knows where I can get the whole set for cheap in those languages, I might be interested, lol

Pretty cool and manageable “mini set” to collect with only 14 PCG-P cards. Previously, I was painstakingly purchasing the sealed pack one-by-one until I saw a listing for the whole 14 packs/cards last year. I didn’t even know the existence of the Aura’s Lucario until it was pointed out by the seller. All-in-all, glad to have this in my sealed card collection

Hi shadowcollector. I love your collection thread. I am a newer collector myself and I thoroughly enjoyed reading and seeing it displayed just for your enjoyment and archival purposes. Being a simpler, less showy collection (please don’t take this the wrong way, I just mean it compared to some things I’ve seen in this forum) I feel identified. You have inspired me to create my own collection thread As I get deeper into the hobby I need to cycle through some things, if nothing else for the sake of achieving my main goals, and this is a great way of documenting the journey. I just like to collect these cards as I derive some enjoyment looking at them and also to have some personal goals to work towards in life (besides relieving my childhood memories).

My McD 25th anniversary cards finally arrived from America after a one month delivery! After being salty for not buying the Special Delivery Pikachu when it was at $40, I decided to get these anniversary-related cards earlier than usual. Paid $170 for the lot of 50 cards and international shipping was $30, so I hope the price does not tank too much. In terms of art, I love the Gen 2 and Gen 4 starter cards (sorry Charmander ). Pretty happy to add these cards to my collection and can’t wait for the official Pokemon 25th anniversary set.

When I started coming back into the hobby in 2017, one of the first few Pokemon products that I bought is the English Volcanion Mythical Collection and Magearna Mythical Collection from my LGS. I think that was the first time I was introduced to Full Art cards since I stopped being interested in Pokemon cards around the 3rd gen. Naturally, I collected the rest of the cards and branch out to collect the Japanese cards as well. I really love the art, and my personal favourite would have to be either the Japanese Keldeo or Manaphy.
For the CP2 cards, I really love that 8 of the cards that shared similar illustrators have a unified story behind it:
A) The great battle between Zekrom, Palkia and Latios (Illus. Naoki Saito)
B) The appearance of Arceus to Regigigas and White Kyurem (Illus. Shin Nagasawa)
C) The Yin-Yang duality between Reshiram and Black Kyurem (Illus. Mitsuhiro Arita)
Arguably the best looking cards for Sun & Moon era (in my opinion), I collected the alternate arts in 3 languages. My Japanese/English collection is more elaborate as I collect other rarities for the GX cards as well. For my Korean set up, I decided to keep it simple and just collect the gold TAG TEAM and these alternate art cards. It’s just nice that the alternate arts totaled up to 36 cards, so they fit perfectly in my 9 page side-load binder.
I think all the arts are gorgeous, but these 7 cards are probably cards that I really really adore:
I am a sucker for cards with sunset/sunrise/sun, so naturally I love the Celebi & Venusaur GX, Latias & Latios GX and Marshadow & Machamp GX. In my opinion, the Moltres & Zapdos & Articuno GX and Arceus & Dialga & Palkia GX arts are such unique twists to the TAG TEAM art concepts. As the annoying friend/sibling, I love the facial expression on Mewtwo. Lastly, the Deoxys exudes a bad-ass aura and I couldn’t help but love it. All in all, the Sun & Moon alternate arts are such gorgeous cards.
Each box have 20 packs and each pack have 4 cards (3 non-holo + 1 holo or higher rarity). Opened my first box and managed to snag the shiny Zard V. That saves some money for me to complete the shiny sub-set
