So I was looking at the option to sell your cards to T&T, and with their Buylist they indicate what they are willing to pay for your cards. I’ve got a few questions about this and I was hoping that somebody had some information on this.
For some cards they are offering quite some money relatively to what the going rate at Ebay is, for example one card they give around $22 for while you can get them on Ebay for $15. So wouldn’t you simply make profit if selling to them? And on top of that there’s the option to get a payout in in-store credit and with that option you get even 25% more, so you could get good rates on lots of cards. All I’m wondering is: Where is the catch? As far as I can see T&T’s business model is solid, they sell this card for $35 for example, and when assuming that it sells it makes them profit even with the in-store credit factured in. So it can all work, but I’m really worried about there being a catch.
And the next question is that I’m living in The Netherlands, could I sell to T&T as well? Of course I can make sure that my package arrives at the mentioned address, I have a PayPal account or T&T account for the payout and their return address form lets me select The Netherlands, so is there any reason that they would not accept people from outside the US selling to them?
Roughly 10 years ago I sold them a bunch of sealed legendary bird promos. I saw they were offering $1 a piece and I believe they were selling them for $4 or $5. I thought they were pretty common and you could find the set of 3 on ebay for $7. Well I ended up winning an auction of 2,000 sealed legendary bird promos for $80. I messaged them and said I had a lot available and he told me they would buy 500. So I sold 500 for $500 and kept the rest. I still have quite a few and I throw them in as extras with some cards I sell now.
You can sell well to Troll and Toad from Europe, I’ve done that in the past. Would be strange if they wouldn’t accept it anymore. I tried to look at their site and didn’t see anything saying about it?
I didn’t have any problems when selling to them. Keep in mind though that imo you should have a stack of cards with quite a high value to sell, because they require to you send tracked, I don’t know about the Netherlands but sending tracked from Finland to US is quite expensive. So it’s better to make a bigger sale for them at once. If you think it’s worth doing and you want to get rid of stuff you don’t need then I think you should go for it. And if you take the money as store credit you’ll get more money to use basically.
Literally just sold to them and shipped out yesterday – don’t want to jinx myself but so far all my previous buylists have gone without a hitch – tho the check takes a while to come in.
Edit: here’s the catch – the card’s condition can severely determine what they pay for the card, so it’s not as easy as buying and flipping as you think unless the card is mint.
Thanks for all responses! I really appreciate them This gives me confidence that it can work, though maybe a small part of the catch is that the prices in their shop are slightly higher than the Ebay prices, so some part of the 25% bonus is gone.
Well, my reasoning is that a card that will grade a PSA 7 or higher qualifies for Near Mint, I hope that T&T agrees with that reasoning in general.
If it looks like a 7 they might lowball you and say it’s LP or whatever… but yeah generally there’s no issues selling to these guys. They honor the prices listed on their site, but check how much quantity they’re willing to buy. I’m just saying don’t buy 100 copies of the card you’re talking about and expect easy profit. lol They’re usually only buying 5-10 of a given card.
When I sell to them, I just take paypal money tbh… Their prices are usually going to be 25%+ higher than everyone else and unless you buy sealed product, I just don’t have much confidence buying singles of any decent value from them. Too much of a gamble when you don’t know if that NM card is 6 worthy or 10 worthy.
This guy gets it.
It’s not just T&T, many reputable dealers do that… Even when I look at famous youtubers and some collections they buy, they see the slightest issue with a card and start talking how it’s well played and loved but you can be sure it will be listed as near flawless on their store a week later. lol
Mh, I understand that there’s different kinds of 7’s, and to be fair a 7 sometimes can look quite bad if you base it on solely on one aspect, like whitening/edge wear/corner wear for example. I suppose it’s mainly for 8-9 which you can easily sell off in this way, even though locally they would often sell for slightly more.
As for the web credit, I suppose it’ll always be a gamble, so I would only use it for cards that I know I could easily sell off if it turns out to be a mediocre copy. Of course cashing out in booster boxes could also work, but shipping out to Europe would definitely need to be investigated. One thing to keep in mind is that though is that an Ultra Prism booster box can easily cost 120+ euro in The Netherlands so buying for $90 is then not a bad deal at all, even if you need to pay full import costs.
