That is an amazing bit of info!
Unfortunately I don’t think EU users can use yahoo Japan directly but I’ll look into it and see if it’s possible perhaps with a VPN etc.
Much appreciated.

That is a huge 50%! Everyone to exercise great caution when buying from overseas sellers and local sellers who refuse to meet up in real life.
There are better and safer option than buying through Buyee/Yahoo Japan, Mercari…
Can’t really give a strong suggestion on your case, some guidance were given above. I wonder if you could just ask Buyee to return the purchase (not sure on the yahoo japan terms and conditions for returns). But good you took a photo and inspect it prior to shipping to you.
Unrelated to the case and for newbies on buyee. You have to be aware of the proliferation of scammers on Yahoo Japan and mercari. In today’s market, I will avoid at all cost from buying though this buyee platform untill they set up some for of buyer protection or yahoo japan/Mercari take scams seriously … instead I suggest using either ebay or Pwcc even if you have to pay a premium , at least you know what you get …
I only tend to use it to purchase manga ~
You shouldn’t actually need to use Yahoo Japan directly for purchasing. They just mean by visiting the website directly and using that filter you can identify which listings are participating in the authentication program, and then you can purchase that listing via Buyee like normal.
Ah. I assumed it was a service you could pay for?
Nope, it’s a new service that Yahoo Japan provides. Sellers opt in to have their listings be part of the authentication program. The seller would then ship the card to Card Rush who would authenticate the item, and then Card Rush would ship it to the buyer. That should still apply if Buyee is the buyer in the case of you using them to middleman.
Issue for @charizardespana here is that the website itself might not be reachable as access to Yahoo Japan from EEA countries or GB are all blocked since last year. (Yahoo Japan decided to stop serving those countries as it will cost them too much to make their site compatible to local privacy regulations.)
For collectors living in those countries, they will need to VPN to the site to check for eligible listings until Buyee or whatever middlemen they use modified their UI for customers to enable the filter.
Thanks all for this incredible info!
UPDATE -
As expected, Buyee has told me to kindly “f off”.
What’s the strategy here, paypal claim for “item not received” as its still in their warehouse?
I would need it shipped somewhere to do the “item not as described” claim.
edit - probs going to do a “not recieved” claim and describe the situation in detail to the paypal team.
Absolutely gutted.
Ps. Anyone selling a GS Japanese Ray? ![]()
Its pretty sad when they dont take any accountability for anything. If there was a scratch or something sure i get that.
But when things are clearly damaged like this its disgusting to hear the reasoning.
I recently bought some no rarity cards and if they switch them with normal versions of the cards id hope that there protection would cover that even if it wont cover them sending a damaged copy.
I hope so for you mate!
Also I find it hilarious how they say the item was “ambiguous”… Are photos ambiguous? ![]()
Update - refund recieved from PayPal as Buyee couldn’t provide a tracking number.
Waiting on buyee message asking for the money back / banning my account.
Annoying the scammer just gets away with it honestly…buyee need to have some kind of authentic check and or ability to claim back from the orignal seller.
What you’re talking about is more a major design flaw with Yahoo Japan, not buyee specifically.
Hey man, dealing with something similar on Buyee. I sent a message on IG if that’s okay
DM me on instagram.com/antoniogr_9 if you need help, also had a similar situation
No. Buyee do not care about buyers even if you have outrageous proof (asking them to take photo of the received product in their warehouse or if even if you took a video of the received shipment to demonstrate flaws or scams) they will just deny buyer right.
I understand buyee - they take what is best for their business , what is important for them is to have sellers, then if buyers get scammed, they just ignore them to the maximum possible extent until exhaustion.
Now that the market has turned, I don’t really any reasons to buy products from Japan using proxy buyers like buyee. Product from Japan are widely available in the US and EU at prices flirting with MSRP (if including shipping and taxes. Note: do not buy from sellers still thinking there are in the 2020-2021).
Unless you are looking for a niche product avoid proxies and better try to have a contact person in the country itself to negotiate a deal
I got around £300 back from buyee from a claim first time I used them… never banned my account or anything
