Rough Edges on WOTC Cards

Hi Everyone!

I am in the process of collecting 1st edition Gym Challenge and I have noticed that some of the commons and uncommons have rough edges (or edges that look like they are slightly fraying). I was wondering if this was a common issue among Gym Challenge, WOTC era cards in general, or maybe just the handful of the Gym Challenge cards I’ve come across? Additionally, does anyone know if rough edges affect a card’s grading?

This is very common on WOTC cards. I’ve noticed it more on Jungle and Fossil than anything else, but there are definitely Gym Challenge cards like this, as well.

And yes, the fraying along those edges definitely affects grading.

Dull blade cuts

Yup, this usually happens when the blade doesn’t cut properly, as the person above me has said, its usually more prominent in jungle/fossil, but I’ve seen this happen in base set aswell.
