Hello! I wanted to make a post here documenting all the English and Japanese Absols that I’ve collecting. Absol is the cutest edgelord, and I want to document this masterset for any aspiring collectors of this fluffy yin-yang dog-cat-sphinx hybrid. I’ll be posting my entire collection gradually over a series of replies.
My collection has these guidelines:
English and Japanese cards only
Includes each unique art with each unique treatment
Includes promos and World Championship Deck reprints
Both 1st ED and Unlimited for Japanese
But it also contains many other things, like sleeves, plushies and art commissions!

Enhanced Expansion Pack Sun & Moon (Plain Reverse Pattern)
Hey, amazing collection and work organizing everything! I noticed you are missing one, let me know if im wrong. Its the: TAG TEAM GX Tag All Stars Absol which also has a normal holofoil variant (you just put the reverse foil variant)
Probably the most iconic Absol illustration, drawn by the legendary Mitsuhiro Arita. I really like how Absol looks like a wild beast, camouflaged among the snowy peaks.
Here we have the only 2 Absol cards that have Japanese-exclusive arts, both drawn in Atsuko Nishida’s signature soft style. I love the day/night parallel the two cards have.
To be honest, I’m not the biggest fan of Midori Harada’s rendering of Absol here. The hind legs look glued together. But at least it’s not as bad as their depiction of Absol on the pack art of EX Dragon:
Running is a common theme in many Absol cards, but this Masakazu Fukuda card is the very first one. The sense of speed with the warping FOV make this one of my favorites.
One of the benefits of collecting a single species is seeing all the gimmicks that the Pokémon TCG introduces throughout the years. With this set, Absol finally receives the EX treatment introduced by the Ruby & Sapphire era.
This is the first set with 2 different Absol arts! LV. X has to be one of the coolest treatments in the TCG, so I’m very glad Absol got one. Also this one is working for team Galactic for some reason.

Holo / Reverse – They really like their motion blur
Onward to the HeartGold and SoulSilver era! I played the crap out of these games growing up. This era comes with one of the sickest card treatments, Pokémon Prime. Absol happens to have only one card in this era, and it’s a Prime!
With how focused the Black and White era is on Unovan Pokémon, it’s no surprise that Absol only gets one card in this era as well. Luckily, Mega Evolution is on the horizon…
Time for one of my favorite eras! Roaring Skies introduces this card as a throwback to the EX Power Keepers one, its Cursed Eyes ability identical to the 2007 ex card. Illustrated by Kagemaru Himeno, it looks as floofy as ever.
Love the color differences of the grass in the pictures. And I don’t mean the holo in the very first picture, which makes it appear yellow/orange (which is also cool btw, FWIW). But comparing the English RH with for example Japanese 1st edition holo, the English is a brighter lighter green than the darker green of the Japanese one.

You know what’s funny? Before I played Pokémon Y, my favorite Pokémon was Lugia. The 6th generation games converted me into an Absol fan, all thanks to the design of Mega Absol (and Pokémon-Amie). Among the many XY promos introduced, there’s only one Mega Absol card, and it’s my favorite out of every card I’ve collected to this day.
