Im really not trying to throw shade, what exactly is a buyout going to do here? Usually buyouts are of viable companies. Weren’t they hurting for awhile? How would a buyout magically make people pay more for boxes they weren’t already for months on end? I feel like the bad ownership narrative is a copium distraction from the real core problem of inorganic ip.

Exactly. The issue I see is that sny new leadership will have to effectively start from scratch to undo alot of the damage done and remarket. Anybody who is willing to try is braver than me haha.

There was nothing especially wrong with the game itself and i can see why people like ot, but it was marketed as an investment opportunity first and a game second and that was a mistake.

I highly doubt a buyout is in place. It would be the most toxic asset that a TCG company could obtain right now. But if it is happening, there is nothing that can be done beyond starting over from scratch: all new art, all new design, but the same (or similar) game mechanics.

I would guess the following:

Overstock
Card design
Booster box design
IP related to the cards released that aren’t public domain (e.g., trophies, promos)
Name “MetaZoo”
Website domain and design

Plus they would be inheriting (assuming the bridges aren’t burned):

Established relationships with influencers
Established relationships with distributors
Established relationships with manufacturers
Established relationships with (the remaining) artists

Extremely easy, though I am sure that new owners would want the original hype beasts to bring the people back in. If Pokemon was sold to a different company, I’m sure the first person they would buy out would be Logan Paul.

Extremely easy considering how many “influencer” options are available. Chances are people here would be contacted to do sponsorships, and they could also do deals with Instagram or social media personalities, but it’s also as easy as sending a mass email to every YouTube channel related to gaming content with x amount of subscribers and asking for a sponsored video.

They were already doing this, and it was pretty aggressive. To the point where they just sent me free product for years, and I never once showed it anywhere. Basically marketing can only do so much, they maxed it out, and this was the end result.
