Repurposing/Creative Uses for Bulk and Card 'trash'/Novelty Hobby Products

As some know, I really enjoy making art and creating things in general, and lately have been working to reuse whatever I can to make art or novelty creations that TCG enjoyers and collectors might like. Although shadowbox cards are usually displaying one pokemon card, I’ve been having some fun creating these box collage type things.

I imagine it could even be centered on a theme too, like only focusing on electric pokemon, or even put together something for people that includes their favorite pokemon or cards.

Even with Journey Together, I was able to get a poster from a shop owner who was throwing it away that featured Iono and I’m making another odd piece also with pack artwork on the background, and a 3D card atop as well.

I’ve got a button maker and use the Build and Battle boxes to make some themed buttons as well!

I really want to create stuff that people might like, but I have to wonder if it’s actually any good or who might be interested. But please don’t let this come off as shilling myself, it’s more a case of wondering if anyone else is interested or have their own ideas of repurposing or creating things that are a nod to the hobby itself, that might be cool to make or own, and I’m curious if others do the same. I always feel a little shy posting but I know I can’t reach people if I never show things, but I’d be curious to learn more about what people might enjoy. Do you have any novelties? I also wanted to show the bulk idea since I’m sure a lot of people might have some bulk to go through, and it could be a fun project to try. And maybe you never thought of using old packs to put onto something artistic, so I also wanted to maybe show that! Thanks for looking and reading!

I like doing some fun stuff with cards or centered around bulk. Buttons, magnets, I have seen some really fun displays, Ive seen people make shadowboxes out of tins with backlighting and everything. The ideas that people come up with are amazing.

Oh yes thank you! And that’s awesome you also have your own stuff, and I forgot about magnets. But you’re right there’s some awesome shadowbox things, thanks for the link as well!

I think the pieces you’ve made are cute and fun! (And you probably had a blast making them, which is just as important).

I’ve had some thoughts about making a bigger collage with card art from the same artist, trying to fit them together nicely into a larger picture/scene. And maybe drawing in your own background elements (or crafting them some other way) to make it feel more natural. But, alas, time is something I am short on right now.

It’d be fun to see what ideas others have too :slightly_smiling_face:

These look like a ton of fun! My first thought was how impactful it could be for you to teach a local arts & crafts class on the topic. I could see kids and young adults loving this type of thing.

That is another good idea, definitely something to try sometime and I hadn’t done before either! It’d be awesome to see what you could make if you ever did it, but yes does take time. Good stuff though!
