Relative Perceived Price Absudity (Cheeto v. Charizard)

Someone is offering a Cheeto that looks faintly like Mew for $25k:

m.ebay.com/itm/ULTRA-RARE-POKEMON-MEW-CHEETO/112572931246?_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIM.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D20150519202348%26meid%3Defd32fd620a844cab03388e3528e41ff%26pid%3D100408%26rk%3D6%26rkt%3D12%26sd%3D182772238386&_trksid=p2349624.c100408.m2460

Obviously it’s a joke. But it presents some questions.

For example, does the notion of buying a Cheeto shaped faintly like Mew for thousands of dollars seem any more absurd today than the notion of buying a Charizard for $55k seemed in 1999? In other words, are the levels of absurdity, perceived in their different times, reasonably distinguishable?

Yes and no but not necessarily in that order…

Lol. I’m glad that mew is still around and kicking. It’s been a few years since I’ve seen it.

I saw this listing this morning and I personally believe it’s too cheap. It’s worth more than those little trophy cards smpratte has for sure.

Why the necropost @thewanderingking?

I thought some crazy individual had bought it. I’m very disappointed. :slightly_frowning_face:

is it on a slice of ham?? does it come with the ham? the ham effects the price alot tbh i dont mind paying 25k for the mew and the slice of ham its sits on but i wouldnt pay 25k for just the mew.

That’s real funny. Kinda like the piece of toast that had a religious portrait on it way back a few years.

It’s because I found the listing yesterday morning then weirdly enough Tapatalk showed this thread so I thought someone else had saw it too. I just noticed the year it was first posted. I thought it was a new thing to be honest.
