Defs PWCC lol
Zach here from Rare Candy ![]()
I appreciate the resounding love for the platform ![]()
-As a buyer, I’m not sure why you would need to choose between them. Neither platform currently has the entire selection of Pokémon TCG, so why not buy from both if something comes up that you want?
-As a seller, talk to a sales rep at both and measure your experience.
I understand the platform is built with the social aspect in mind but I think an alternate layout would be really helpful for those that do not care about any of that. I’m not even a boomer and looks like I’m buying something on tiktok.
Maybe I’m just not navigating this properly but I really don’t want to be checking out items in a 400x600 hidden overflow container…
UX/UI changes are in the works.
I hear your criticisms on the social side. My small pushback here is most platforms almost entirely ignore what makes collectibles valuable in the first place. Collectibles are emotional. Many collectors/investors of TCG build just as much emotional equity into their collections as monetary. What better way to continue building experiences like that for collectors than investing in the social aspects that connected them to the hobby in the first place? ![]()
I’m sure we haven’t perfected that yet so I welcome any feedback that will help improve those kind of experiences.
Rare Candy consistently under performs. I know from a prominent IG reseller they bought a card for under 15k and sold it for 30k.
That should be a decent indication for your question
Would love some specific examples you are referring to. From what I can tell, at least in the last two premiers since I’ve been here, we’ve set several major public records from gold stars to trophy cards ![]()
Seems like the turnover rate there is super high. Especially it seems for the most knowledgeable and valuable employees.
Not sure what you mean by that. I joined the team two months ago after leaving PWCC. From my experience, the team over here is motivated and energetic. They’ve also been hiring several positions to continue innovating and expanding ![]()
Are you the former head of comics Zach?
Yes sir. I was category manager of Comics and also worked with Peter when he ran TCG. Did we meet back when I was at Heritage in the TCG department? I see you know Yaniv ![]()
This thread right now, straight vibes.
which card?
Sweet yeah me and you have actually chatted a few times when you were at pwcc. Will send a PM here!
I was not given the information of which card. But they did say the love rare candy for how much they can buy under market and resell
As a buyer, Rare Candy hands down. Their staff is super nice and helpful. And just the way they handle everything is super clean and easy.
Also they don’t charge me sales tax ![]()
This is illegal unless you have a vault location in a state that does not charge sales tax. And if that’s the case, it’s not unique for Rare Candy. Any online auction house (eBay, Goldin, Heritage, PWCC, etc.) that sends a parcel to a vault in Oregon, Delaware, etc. would not charge sales tax. ![]()
Maybe he means he submitted his reseller tax exemption documents to them?
Yeah but as long as Kim Reynolds is in office I just consider it Leonhart doing the lord’s work.
Also this might have changed at some point this year. Not entirely sure.
So you’re shipping the cards to a state that has sales tax but they’re not charging you sales tax?

Maybe they are taking it out of the sale price?
