That’s kind of the basis for Zigzagoon, isn’t it?

I snuk the edit in before you posted

Going back to how most Pokemon say only their name, have you ever wondered why Staryu in the cartoon said something that sounded like “hiya/high ya”?? I believe it was Misty’s Staryu from the cartoon.

We definitely need a catchable Tom Nook, I agree

This is definitely what I’m thinking

all he lacks is his clothes

A Tom Nook fire type. Just perfection.

I would assume its bc Pokemon doesnt want people looking it up and seeing Balls.

What is the best card?
What is the most expensive card?
Why is gen7 the worst?
Is snom the newest magikarp/bidoof?

Maybe it’s not that Alakazam or Mew can’t speak, but that they choose not to or have no reason to bother. Maybe they just exist on an intellectual and spiritual level so much higher than humans that verbal communication is pointless :person_shrugging:

I’m glad I’m not the only person that has been stewing on this one.

Lt Surge talks about a war using Pokémon. I want to know more about that! Why is it never mentioned again since it was clearly within recent times since Surge is not that old? Where are all the “soldier” Pokémon? Given their experience would a Pokémon with military history be at a huge advantage in gym battles?

@jawsh98 or is a Poke Ball like a little Genie sweet, mini one level housing?

In the BB academy Amarys calls your ride Pokemin Agias after the noise it makes, had me thinking about yourbthird point there.

The only thing I can think of that could make it remotely plausible as a conscious decision is that it’s somehow supposed to make the Brock-Surge story mode tougher because of the progressively diminishing chance that your Bulba/Ivy won’t be at level 30 and so it won’t have Razor Leaf.

In other words, torturing kids with visits to the Pokemon center, discovering the wonders of Ether and being resigned to Tackle everything until you learn about PP.

Effectively, the only advantage of choosing Bulba over Squirtle is a super effective hit + resistance against Misty and resistance against Surge. Other than that, Squirtle has more power, better matchups and more PP. The dynamics change a bit in the pre-Surf Razor Leaf period but still, it’s thin. Super thin.

I could go on about Leech Life too.

Some of the unused ideas for Gen 1 trainer classes included soldiers and firefighters. Ken Sugimori’s original concept for Blaine also featured him in military attire.

The player’s character was also at one point going to carry a whip. This was removed in development but remnants of the whip can still be seen in the “Tamer” trainer class.

There’s a lot of interesting documentation out there on cut content in Gen 1. A lot of the military allusions and monster taming were toned town or removed outright for the final release. But remnants (such as Surge’s dialogue about a “Pokemon war”) made their way in.

Not mine but just popped up on reddit and I found it too good to not share. Enjoy.

“Why do I keep seeing people posts sealed vintage booster box online and people keep opening vintage packs literally everyday… Are they secretly still producing these vintage cards???
Seriously I’m so confused. Is the company secretly still producing these cards or it’s all just resealed? It’s like vintage box/packs are unlimited.”

That must be it- the only logical explanation.
