Question for Species Collectors - How do you research the cards you are looking for across all langauges?

Hi Everyone! As the title says, I’m looking for advice as to how to research all of the cards that exist across all languages in the TCG.

My wife and I collect Jigglypuff and all related evolutions (Igglybuff, Jigglypuff, Wigglytuff, & Scream Tail) and we recently discovered some very cool Chinese reverse holos. Our current species collection mainly focuses on Japanese and English, but we’re strongly considering expanding to all languages.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated! Our biggest hurdles are creating a list, and then of course knowing where to go to keep up with new releases

Thanks all and happy holidays!

How crazy do you want to get?

Any Jigglypuff Card in the TCG, cameos included though my wife and I have most of those noted down.

Any interest in the various printings? Theres like 5 different variations of jigglypuff in what i consider the english 3rd print on jungle then each foreign printing has a belgium variant.

Thank you @CR4WD4UNT and @eeveeteam for sharing these articles, I didn’t know this information existed! And of course, big thanks to @citriina – amazing work and thank you for taking the time to share!

I’ve heard of the Belgium variant, which is missing some of the rosette pattern on the backside along some of the letters. If you have detailed information about this or the other 5 variations you are referring to, then I’d be happy to know more!

For English Jungle set at the moment we have Unlimited, 1st Edition, Unlimited Glossy (Red Logo Jungle Packs), and the Blue Oval error.

Will pm you🤙

Thank you both @eeveeteam and @CR4WD4UNT for linking the articles I’ve written!

Species collecting is very near and dear to my heart, so if you have any questions about either guide I wrote, or species research in general, please let me know! There are so, so many little niches within the TCG that you’ll need to account for when hunting down all language/all variant prints. Most of my advice is already in the articles linked by the others, but my inbox is always open. Best of luck on your hunt!

Thank you, Citriina! I always admire your Piplup collection updates! I won’t let the information in your guide go unused

That means a ton to hear that, thank you so much! Collecting a gen 1 mon, especially all language/all variant, isn’t for the faint of heart (or wallet, lol), but it is insanely fun and rewarding to see everything come together. You’ve got this!!

Thank you! I hope so

If @nightvulture convinces you, I will fast track you the jigglypuff variations of unlimited jungle that I have.

Im answering because decks have taken me on a journey similar to species collecting.

Stupid amounts of research and leads from info on e4 and online listings. So many times i find a new deck from someone selling something i havent seen before.

I have an open box German Bodyguard theme deck if you would have any use for it. Good condition too

Appreciate the offer. As far as use, it would just live in a collection with lots of other boxes as friends so im not sure if it would ever be used to its full potential. But if youre cool with that, send a message and lets talk.
