Oh man…green applin has to be a favorite of mine now.
I do really like shinies that make sense. This is black volcanic sand. cool.
Ponyta, having blue flames. definitely.
It’s also kinda cool when you think about it. “Shiny” has been the consistently most popular quirk feature of pokemon, and it started in Gen 2. It was anchored to a specific set of random values that was different for each monster, and a decent amount of work went into them. (The only thing was the color pallet was essentially random, just shifted a standard amount.) But it’s cool when you think about for those of us who discovered shinies in Gen 2, how it’s propagated to today.
I genuinely don’t think I can pick the most “impressive”, but Quaza has to be one of the most striking.
I’ll throw Primal Groudon into the ring.
As a distraction, I’ve recently been hacking fun, impossible stuff into HGSS. Discovered this looking for the right grass balance on my team.
The treecko line is eye catching…
but Shiny sceptile is really impressive, I think. Really looks like a toxic dinosaur.
Can’t believe Wooloo hasn’t been mentioned. Not only a palette swap, but making it an actual black sheep is 10/10.
blue flame ponyta
I looked through the whole national dex and didn’t like much of what I saw there ![]()
I know there were technical limitations on the early gens, but silver Ninetales takes the cake. From later gens I really liked these:
Aurorus line
Goodra line
And I never knew about this situation
I really like how the Nidos basically swap their colors for their shinies
And then Nidoquuen ruins everything
He just has a little sparkle in his eye
I’d say this Kecleon. It somehow managed to be this ugly purple color 1/1 but still looks better than the one we officially got
First time seeing a blue soulless Psyduck. Thanks for broadening my horizons!
sorry what?!
The abyss may stare back, but nothing is as unsettling as the blank, unblinking gaze of a Psyduck. It looks right through you, lost in its own endless confusion
Im suprised charizard hasn’t been mentioned already, yes you can argue overrated but there’s a good reason why it’s so popular.
